Quote by noladreams30
My heart sings because you love me
Its own opera, unchained melody
I love you, adore you without measure
This second chance, a gift I'll treasure
I will love you fully and wholly, without remit
And joyfully submerse myself in it
I will drown in your smile, and melt in your arms
My soul will dance in the midst of your charms
So perfect, so right, this love divine
Except the fact that you are not mine
No matter, our entiwined hearts were meant to be
and I will wait till they are, for eternity.
:inlove:

Wow. Stunning.
redface surprisedops: thank you

Words fail me.
And the anger grows,
wells up deep from reserves unknown.
Can't speak of it,
at least not without tears.
They fall unbidden
as blizzard snowflakes; icy too.
Chilled heart, compassionless.
Will it mend?
In time, they say.
Who's 'they'?
They're not us, torn apart.
Rifts only grow; the familial fabric
ripped, in pieces.
I lift the handset,
but words fail me.

:therethere: :therethere: kiss
with one sentence,
you can make me cry.
with a careless word,
you can make me wither and die.
with a thoughtless comment,
you can make me wonder why?
and the sad thing is....
you dont even have to try.

Love that Nola sad
They've gone and broke my fart muscle
And sure it never did much harm
Rattle, bang and the odd wee squeak
It always kept my bed quiet warm
They've gone and broke my fart muscle
One of the greatest tools known to man
The surgeon must have been a woman
Jealous of the skill I had to hand
They've gone and broke my fart muscle
How will I now bond with the boys
They'll all can fart any time they like
I'll have to invest in more boys toys
They've gone and broke my fart muscle
Today I lie here sad and glum
They didn't need tpo go there
Why where they messing with my bum
They've gone and broke my fart muscle
But wait, whats this familiar feeling
There she blows, it's fixed again
I can come down from the ceiling

Do not look upon this cold still body,
I am not there.
Do not look in my favorite chair,
I am not there.
I am for ever in your memory,
but do not dwell there.
Move on, find new love, move on.
Move on to find another to warm you.
Move on my love move on.
I cum from the East
with strange gifts.
Then north, south and west
together again.
I wrote this for my wife in 2006 (we'd been married 11 years), she's now leaving me. Can't decide if I like the poem now or not I remember thinking it expressed how I felt at the time though.
I often think our life is just a song
We accept poor lyrics providing they're long
I can't define it, but since I found you
Our songs have joined ones become two
Harmonies both chilling and sweet
Are beautiful reminders of how two minds meet
my song was floundering, lost
Playing from a heart filled with frost
You are my chorus, hook, refrain
Without you scales would be all that remain
I can't sing, dance or really speak
But I do know with you my life is complete.

I love the musical imagery Webster. Hope things work out.
Nola x
Nola,
Things always do & will work out - just not necessarily to ones satisfaction. My wife is a musician and the most beautiful & talented person I've ever met (hence I love her) that's why the music references seemed to work for me.
I know I will be better but at the moment I'm struggling - I feel more poetry coming on biggrin
Thank-you for your kind words - who'd have thought this would be where I turned for some solace?
Take care

How sad the icy wind rips through
The warmth of friendship we once knew
Cold shoulders harsh and turned
Brittle like a wick once burned
Sorrow extinguished the flame
Will it ever ignite again
How sad the icy wind rips through
I wonder if you notice too.
Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on Laughter- silverd wings
Sunward Iv'e climbed and joind the tumbling mirth
Of sun split clouds-and done a hundred things
you have not dreamed of-wheeld and soard and swung
High in the sunlit there
Iv'e chased the shouting wind along and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air
Up , up the long delerious burning blue
Iv'e topped the windswept heights with easy grace
where never lark or eagle flew
And while with silent lifting mind Iv'e trod
the high untresspassed sanctity of space
Put out my hand and touched the face of god.

Killed in action December 1941
My Aunt she died a month ago,
and left me all her riches.
A wooden leg, a feather bed
and a pair of calico breeches.
A coffee pot with out a spout,
a mug with out a handle.
A baccy box with out a lid,
and half a ferthing candle.

The Day of Love Requires a Companion
The day of love requires a companion,
But I find myself at this time all alone.
Words of sweet affection fill the morning
Like bells outside the windows of my room.
I don't know why I don't have someone with me.
I've loved and been loved through the restless years.
The mysteries of love I hold within me
Are a darkness unrelieved by moon and stars.
And yet I feel more love than I have ever
Felt within the circle of a kiss.
Love need not be a passion or a fever,
Nor does it need a hand for its caress.
Love does not require a companion.
It doesn't need an object or a home.
It flies above the ecstasy of morning
And fills the universe inside my room.

Being humble by Bryon Howell
It seems that everybody has a plan,
a goal to which they give their heart and soul;
they plot a course, do everything they can...
and suddenly the keyword is control.
I see how everybody hits a wall,
from time to time it’s just what comes to be;
no matter how they pine, they seem to fall...
despite their passion and intensity.
I think that I would rather play it cool,
and let the future look out for its own;
the humble one will never look the fool...
like those who go on blindly and alone.
In realizing I am not that tough...
I’m satisfied, and mine is just enough.
I sit upon the bar stole of life
The bar keep adds to my glass,
I know not when
I sip, and it is never empty.
Softly the surf laps the shore
Ebbing and flowing white tipped brine
Creeping higher inch by inch
To dampen and darken the sand
Inlets and channels fill and swell
As the relentless tide pushes on
A gathering squall on the horizon
Augments the unremitting suffusion
A crescendo of breakers collides and wanes
Crashing and effervescing on the beach
Energy dissipated in the waves
The storm finally passes its peak
The heaving sea subdues, relaxing
The foaming waves decline
Fingers of seaweed litter the shore
Tracery of a bygone touch
Harking back to the storm before
And the turmoil of the tempest
All is calm and tranquil now
The benthic peace restored.
Not mine......I nicked it from another forum I use
But I quite like it...
The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour.
Now is the only time you own.
Live, love, toil with a will.
Place no faith in time.
For the clock may soon be still.

I Believe...
That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, It doesn't mean they do love each other.
I Believe...
That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.
I Believe....
That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
I Believe...
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.
I Believe...
That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life..
I Believe...
That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them..
I Believe...
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.
I Believe...
That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I Believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I Believe...
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I Believe...
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I Believe...
That my best friend and I, can do anything, or nothing and have the best time.
I Believe...
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you When you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.
I Believe...
That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I Believe...
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I Believe...
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others. Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I Believe...
That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I Believe...
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but, we are responsible for who we become.
I Believe...
That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.
I Believe...
Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.
I Believe...
That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.
I Believe...
That even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.
I Believe...
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I Believe...
That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.
There's a hole in my sidewalk... Portia Nelson.
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I fall in.
I am lost — I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I'm in the same place.
But it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I see it is there.
I still fall in — it's a habit
My eyes are open
I know where I am
It is MY fault.
I get out immediately.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I walk around it.
I walk down a DIFFERENT street.

I believe that Shakin' Stevens really Shakes,
And that Mr Kipling bakes exceedingly good cakes,
I'm prepared to believe that Sellafield's not leaking,
And I believe that Ian Paisley thinks before speaking
And I believe the Suns good writing,
Rocky 4's convincing fighting
and that Club 18-30 sounds inviting...
And that bowls on TV is quite exciting.
I believe that the electric chair is ineffectual,
and I'm prepared to believe Cliff Richard's heterosexual,
I believe Prince Edward's built for Army life,
And that Denis Thatcher's turned on by his wife,
And I believe that a Nuclear winter's good for skiing,
But I can't believe Jeremy Kyle is a human being.
