I think that maybe some of you are being a bit too severe. After all, nobody seems to systems-test changes before letting them loose these days, so why expect an exception?
So there are glitches - I've found that clicking on "Clubx no - what is this?" gives a screen with no exit button, & the back button clears the advert just entered at great pains; search on distance alone returns an error; We seem to have all joined in the last day or two; errors crop up elsewhere as well; the stories font is dreadful. However, speed does not seem to be a problem for me.
On the plus side, the site is easier to use (and presumably will improve as the bugs are ironed out); for example, I like the idea of your profile being accessible from your ad - it saves putting everything into every ad.
I know that the axiom "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is very sound, but the fact is that things are moving very fast in the computing world, and to stay interesting the site had to be brought up-to-date.
Anyone who had to try swinging in a staid neighbourhood before the Web will appreciate how much easier it all is these days. I wish this had all been invented thirty years ago!
Finally, I must say that I have absolutely nothing to do with the site management, but I have spent most of my working life designing & redesigning computer systems. Anyone for some Assembler coding?
John.
the new changes to the site are terrible
I don't find it so great now when you can't even use the search faclity. Got fed up of going through hundreds of pages. Hope this is going to be sorted soon.,.
dont like the new layout one bit, postcodes in the photo adds? the quicker they change that the better, and it would be nice to have a comments box in your profile to state exactly what your looking to find and your preferences like age ranges etc. Oh and it would be nice to have a private gallery if it actualy was private, just my opinion.
Most of the changes are good though not sure about post codes. At least before we had a search facilty that worked !!!. Doe's anybody know how to get it to work now ? I know it takes time to get things sorted but this doe's seem to be taking a very long time.
Gotta admit the postcodes took a day or two to get used to but now i've sussed them i think the site is great..... only drawback is the search facility on the ads isn't working now...
Site Upgrades---Post codes I don't think are too good an idea, though I am learning where a lot of them refer to. Now unable to use search facility which makes things tedious and long winded. If you take enough time to look around under help etc it mentions payments ! - could this be the problem ? So much for a free site if this is so ! Will it go the way of many others, the free bits gradually taken away so that it is no longer worth joining ? I have left a couple of other sites because of this but when you look into them the number of paid up members is a very small percentage indeed, down in low single figures. Not really worth the effort I would have thought.
Whats the problem with the search facility.
