It really seems to touch me..a beautiful voice
Ben - Michael Jackson
Due to the fillm it was in
Sounds odd but it does n i try not to listen to it.
One Way of Life - the Levellers, played at a friend's funeral..... but 'cry' more for the memories than being 'sad'
Hurt - Johnny Cash, very powerful song
& another one by a band I cant mention but the lead singer was a friend of mine many moons ago & the song is his obituary.

"The Soldier" by Harvey Andrews always makes me feel inadequate.
Been there, done it, but felt I never left my mark in a peacefull way.

I meant to include China by Tori Amos. I think most people (if not all) can identify with the lyrics. It's a beautiful song.
CHINA
China all the way to New York
I can feel the distance getting close
You're right next to me
But I need an airplane
I can feel the distance as you breathe
Sometimes I think you want me to touch you
How can I when you build a great wall around you
In your eyes I saw a future together
You just look away in the distance
China decorates our table
Funny how the cracks don't seem to show
Pour the wine dear
You say we'll take a holiday
But we never can agree on where to go
Sometimes I think you want me to touch you
How can I when you build a great wall around you
In your eyes I saw a future together
You just look away in the distance
China all the way to New York
Maybe you got lost in Mexico
You're right next to me
I think that you can hear me
Funny how the distance learns to grow
Sometimes I think you want me to touch you
How can I when you build a great wall around you
I can feel the distance
I can feel the distance
I can feel the distance getting close
Everything that's on my cd player at the moment confused
Forget me not - Lucie Silvers
Goodbye my lover - James Blunt
How could an angel break my heart - Toni Braxton
Breathe you in - Stabbing Westward
Last request - Paulo Nutini
May I digress for a moment ?
A Hymn that makes me feel proud is the hymn "For Those In Peril On The Sea".
At the Festival of Britain Liverpool celebrations in 1951 I sang that solo in Liverpool Cathedral.
Being bigheaded I always feel a "swelling of the head" when I hear it on the radio.

Two of my favourite songs of all time, but yes the Johnny Cash one brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it and couple it with one of the best video's for a song I've ever seen it's game over emotionally for me for the short period its playing
My Father is Ex-RAMC, he always joked that the motto was (sp) In Adus Aspestos….
(Screw you mate I’m fireproof!) lol
He is very proud of the fact they have/had, more VC’s than any other corps in the Army.
Good job medic.
My Nan died late Christmas Eve 2003, I couldn't sleep and came down to sit on the sofa, next door were playing R Kelly's Turn back the Hands of Time. Still can't hear that song sad
Otherwise the songs from my wedding make my hairs stand on end!
Cx
L'amor est Bleue
Particularly the instrumental version.
Imagine, John Lennon
Always reminds me of the end of "The Killing Fields", which also makes me snuffle.

Thank you.
Not only the most VC's but the only VC & Bar plus the Iron Cross to the same person. 32 in all.

Oh god, sometimes doesn't matter what song is on, if I'm in 'that' frame of mind, I can be bawling in seconds.
However, like Varca, I love Andrea Bocelli, in particular, Sogno and Time to Say Goodbye, both of which my dad had played at his funeral - I still can't hear either of them without welling up.
Also love 'Hallelujah' - wasn't that in the Shrek film?
I guess songs that remind me of events in my life tend to make me cry too......
Annies song-John denver
Reminds me of someone from my past
He aint heavy, he's my brother, the hollies.
Played it at my brothers funeral.
Got to be Teddy Bear's Last Ride by Diana Williams or Red Sovine
Every time i hear this song it brings tears to my eyes

Another Man's Cause, also Levellers - although again its not 'sadness' its the stirring of emotion of 'political' songs that gets me , so lets just not go there with Bloody Sunday wink
edited to add : fookin 'ell, i just admitted to 'feeling' things didnt I  :giggle:
This is the song I played on my car CD when driving away from being present at my father's death - totally a co-incidence which pains me to think about. I had to stop the car and 'greet'... and have never listened to the song since. From the Pilgrim albun 1998.
Artist: Eric Clapton Lyrics
Song: My Fathers Eyes Lyrics
Sailing down behind the sun,
Waiting for my prince to come.
Praying for the healing rain
To restore my soul again.
Just a toerag on the run.
How did I get here?
What have I done?
When will all my hopes arise?
How will I know him?
When I look in my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
When I look in my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
Then the light begins to shine
And I hear those ancient lullabies.
And as I watch this seedling grow,
Feel my heart start to overflow.
Where do I find the words to say?
How do I teach him?
What do we play?
Bit by bit, I've realized
That's when I need them,
That's when I need my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
That's when I need my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
Then the jagged edge appears
Through the distant clouds of tears.
I'm like a bridge that was washed away;
My foundations were made of clay.
As my soul slides down to die.
How could I lose him?
What did I try?
Bit by bit, I've realized
That he was here with me;
I looked into my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
I looked into my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
My father's eyes.
I looked into my father's eyes.
My father's eyes.

Can't be a hard-nose all the time honey - I could probably cry at pretty much anything at the moment confused
What makes it even worse is that when I moved the CD forward to get rid of the first track the second one was worse!! Just to read the words makes my heart stop for a moment,
Artist: Eric Clapton Lyrics
Song: River of Tears Lyrics
tI's three miles to the river
That would carry me away,
And two miles to the dusty street
That I saw you on today.
It's four miles to my lonely room
Where I will hide my face,
And about half a mile to the downtown bar
That I ran from in disgrace.
Lord, how long have I got to keep on running,
Seven hours, seven days or seven years?
All I know is, since you've been gone
I feel like I'm drowning in a river,
Drowning in a river of tears.
Drowning in a river.
Feel like I'm drowning,
Drowning in a river.
In three more days, I'll leave this town
And disappear without a trace.
A year from now, maybe settle down
Where no one knows my face.
I wish that I could hold you
One more time to ease the pain,
But my time's run out and I got to go,
Got to run away again.
Still I catch myself thinking,
One day I'll find my way back here.
You'll save me from drowning,
Drowning in a river,
Drowning in a river of tears.
Drowning in a river.
Feels like I'm drowning,
Drowning in the river.
Lord, how long must this go on?
Drowning in a river,
Drowning in a river of tears.
There's a song by Josh Groban called To Where You Are and I first heard it the day after my Dad's funeral. Still hard for me to listen to as the words are so real for me
Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear
Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be (?)
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen
As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are mine
Forever love
Watching me from up above
And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave
Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Have you heard the Male Voice Choir do Myfanwy? Stirring stuff
As for Amazing Grace, try to get hold of Aaron Neville doing that song. It's the most beautiful version.
I can't listen to Dance With My Father Again by Luther Vandross without having a little sniffle for obvious reasons.
Bring Me Sunshine by Morecambe & Wise always reminds me of the times I spent with my Dad watching them on tv and laughing until we cried
