I think that everyone has a particular song that means more to them than any other.... the song that maybe was played when they first met a partner, or one that was playing at a party, wedding or something else.....
The one song that immediately brings that memory racing back into your head......
I heard my favourite song played whilst sat in a strange pub on Saturday evening... it's Follow You, Follow Me... by Genesis.... brought a smile to my face... and a glow to my heart...
What's your special song?

What's your special song?

Said I loved you but I lied by Michael Bolton.....
Steve played this to me when we first got together..... When I heard those words I nearly slapped him, then I heard the rest of the verse and almost burst into tears....

Easy peasy one
"Careless Whispers"
I feel so unsure
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies, something in your eyes
Calls to mind the silver screen
And all its sad good-byes
I'm never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it's easy to pretend
I know your not a fool
Should've known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I'd been given
So I'm never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
There's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you'll find
Never without your love
Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it's better this way
We'd hurt each other with the things we want to say
We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But noone's gonna dance with me
Please stay
And I'm never gonna dance again...
(Now that you're gone) Now that you're gone
(Now that you're gone)
Was what I did so wrong, so wrong
That you had to leave me alone?

This was the very first song my daughter's father played for me on the night we met - He was a DJ. So I still get very sentimental over that one
Thats a nice one Steph
Thats very sad Steph
He never got to see Sam grow up, and Sam never got to see and feel her fathers love

For me, it's "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf.... one of the few songs taht brings back memories of happier times in my youth and the "open road". :P
I have other songs that remind me of sad/hurtful times that bring tears to these male eyes.. (a grown man cry ?? I hear you say). I try not to listen to them (Sentimental old me) :upset:
*My Way* by Frank Sinatra, which my grandfather always hummed as he worked around the house . . .
He's died when I was aged 9 years, so a long time ago, but even now when I hear it, I can't help crying
On a happier note one of my son's used to sing *Cherish the Love* (Kool and the Gang) to me when he was about 3 years old and when I hear that now, it makes me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy :smile2: . . . he however at 6ft tall and ex Army, doesn't like to be reminded . . . especially in front of his Fiancee :lol2: :P
Tracy-Jayne
those of you that no me will know that my musical tastes are as loud and brash as my personality so this may come as a shock but.....
Eva Cassidy, and I know all the purist's will besmirch me cause it is Cyndi Laupers song... but there is just something about this acoustic rendition....... still brings a tear to my eye now
Lying in my bed i hear the clock tick,
and think of you
caught up in circles confusion -
is nothing new
Flashback - warm nights -
almost left behind
suitcases of memories,
time after -
Sometimes you picture me -
I'm walking to far ahead
you're calling to me, I can't hear
what you've said -
Then you say - go slow -
I fall behind -
the second hand unwinds
Chorus
If you're lost you can look - and you will find me
time after time
If you fall I will catch you - I'll be waiting
time after time
After my picture fades a darkness has
turned to gray
watching through windows -
you're wondering if I'm O.K.
secrets stolen from deep inside
the drum beats out of time -
Just realised I offered now explanation of why......... it was played at the funeral of a very good friend, who died at the age of 23 as a result of a motoring accident...
Mines Truly madly Deeply - our song. Don't know why but just is. Just how I feel about him - and I know it's how he fels about me.
And ((((((((hugs))))) to Steph - a beautiful song
Over the years a few songs have touched me for a number of varying reasons, some good, some bad, but they all have a specific special meanings for me.
I leave you with three:
“A Better Man” – Thunder
“Afterglow” – Genesis
“Rumbleseat” - John Cougar Mellencamp – Reminds me of my youth, bopping around, just having a good time without a care in the world
This is mine and Morbius' song ..... we met in a nightclub and whilst I can't say live at first sight, there was a definite electricity, he asked if he could call me for a coffee, and we came to be awesome friends. This song just sums up how he made/makes me feel all the time.
I finally found someone, who knocks me off my feet
I finally found the one who makes me feel complete
It started over coffee, we started out as friends
It’s funny how from simple things, the best things begin
This time is different (la, la, la, la)
It’s all because of you (la, la, la, la)
It’s better than it’s ever been
Cuz we can talk it through
My favorite line was can I call you sometime?
It’s all you had to say
To take my breath away
This is it
Oh, I finally found someone
Someone to share my life
I finally found the one to be with every night
Cause whatever I do
It’s just got to be you
My life has just begun, I finally found someone
Ooh, someone
I finally found someone
Ooh…
Did I keep you waiting (I didn’t mind)
I apologize (baby, that’s fine)
I would wait forever
Just to know you were mine
Ya know, I love your hair
(are you sure it looks right? )
I love what you wear
(isn’t it too tight)
You’re exceptional
I can’t wait for the rest of my life
Oh, this is it
Oh, I finally found someone
Someone to share my life
I finally found the one to be with every night
Cause whatever I do
It’s just got to be you
(oh, yeah)
My life has just begun
I finally found someone
And whatever I do
It’s just got to be you
Ooh, my life has just begun…
I finally found someone
John Cougar Mellencamp! Blast from the past!
He dropped the Cougar didn't he? I think the last time I bought anything of his was about 5 years ago - best hits or something. Think I'll have to rake it out now and give it a spin. Thanks for that!
mine has to be every thing i do bryan adams reminds me of my first true love smile
& the song that will always bring a tear to my eye then make me smile then another tear for reasons i dont want to go into is bright eyes  :) :upset:
swing low sweet chariot
as sung by the english fans during the final minutes of the rugby world cup final
Is it getting better, or do you feel the same?
Will it make it easier on you, now you got someone to blame?
You say one love, one life, when it's one need in the night.
One love, we get to share it
Leaves you baby if you don't care for it.
Did I disappoint you or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love and you want me to go without.
Well, it's too late tonight to drag the past out into the light.
We're one, but we're not the same.
We get to carry each other, carry each other... one
Have you come here for forgiveness,
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus to the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much, more than a lot
You gave me nothing, now it's all I got.
We're one, but we're not the same.
Well, we hurt each other, then we do it again.
You say love is a temple, love a higher law
Love is a temple, love the higher law.
You ask me to enter, but then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on to what you got, when all you got is hurt.
One love, one blood, one life, you got to do what you should.
One life with each other: sisters, brothers.
One life, but we're not the same.
We get to carry each other, carry each other.
One - U2
Still reminds me of the most heartbreaking split up in my life - and hearing this afterwards kind of smoothed the edges, and made me feel better ( if that makes sense!
Jack and Diane by John Cougar Mellencamp,

Its the only Mellancamp song that I know, he wasn't that prolific in this country.
I have several songs that bring back pleasant memories:
Itcycoo Park by the Small Faces reminds me of Jane
Eleanor Rigby reminds me of fishing in the pouring rain at Stourport
Wade in the Water reminds me of my wife
Boys of Summer by DJ Sammy - Jackie
Hotel California by The Eagles - Jodie
There are many more which I will probably unleash later.
I have many favourite songs that mean different things to me..... It's too hard to chose the 1 song.
I try not to listen to some as they make me a little sad, others make me happy when thinking back to good times though so I prefer to listen to them!
smile
My favourite songs to cheer me up are "Respect" and "I say a little prayer" Aretha Franklin. biggrin
The song that i like for me and Dino is "Sometimes you cant make it on your own" U2.
My favourite song are "Frozen" by Madonna.
And yes I believe in what we had
But words got in the way
And only yesterday
As I was leaving
Lord knows I've tried to say but I've
Heard a million conversations
Going where they've been before
Seen the way that careful lingers
Undecided at the door
Chorus:
And all I know for sure
All I know for real
Is knowing doesn't mean so much
When placed against the feeling
The heat inside
When bodies meet
When fingers touch
All my words are secondhand and
Useless in the face of this
Rationale and rhyme and reason
Pale beside a single kiss
And I've heard so many things I
Fail to understand at all
I'd settle anytime for
Unknown footsteps
In the hall outside
Chorus
Because the world is cruel and
Promises are broken
Don't try to tell me
Anything don't try to tell me
You'll be true to me you know the
Real truth is never spoken
And I know the world is cold but
If you hold on tight to what you
Find you might not mind too much though
Even this must pass away and
Memories may last for years but
Names are just for souvenirs
Some kind of angel let me
Look into your eyes
Don't give me whys and wherefores
Reason or surprise
I don't care for words that don't belong
And I don't care what you're called
Tell me later if at all
I can wait a long long time
Before I hear another love song
Come here I think you're beautiful
My door is open wide
Some kind of angel come inside
Come here I think you're beautiful
I think you're beautiful beautiful
Some kind of angel come inside
Come here I think you're beautiful
I think you're beautiful
Some kind of angel come inside

The Sisters of Mercy...

So many songs and so many memories. Must be hard for any of us to imagine a life without music, we all have favourites for every emotion i'm sure. My sad one has to be The Scientist by Coldplay. Its about two people, made for each other, but who can't be together for various reasons. It takes me back 3 years when i lost the true love of my life because of outside influences.
I agree with Bazza64 - we have different songs for our different moods. Two songs that stand out for me are "Waterfall" by the Stone Roses which was playing in the club i met Mrs Bubba74 and "Hey Jude" - inspirational and uplifting . All together now - NA, NA, NA, NA, NANANANA...... biggrin
Boys dont cry, by the cure,
i was going through emotional turmoil at the time, and was bottleing everything up.
a very intense and loving relationship had just ended (she was killed in a bike accident), and i was bottling everything up inside. this song helped me let everything go.
even now, when i feel things are a little too much, i can put it on and things just seem to pale into insignificance.
Our song is Amazed by Lonestar & Steve brought me the Westlife song "Flying without wings" when we first met, the soppy old sod got it played for our ''Wedding dance'' too :inlove:
Nothing's quite as pretty as Mary in the morning
When through the sleepy haze I see her lying there
Soft as the rain that falls on summerflowers
Warm as the sunlight shining on her head
When I awake and see her there so close beside me
I want to take her in my arms,
The ache is there so deep inside me
Nothing's quite as pretty as Mary in the morning
Chasing the rainbow in her dreams so far away
And when she turns to touch me I kiss her fingers so softly
And then my Mary wake to love and love again
And Mary's there in summer days or stormy weather
She doesn't care how right or wrong the love we share,
We share together
Nothing's quite as pretty as Mary in the evening
Kissed by the shade of night and starlight in her hair
And as we walk, I hold her close beside me
All our tomorrows for a lifetime we will share
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just can't help believin'
When she smiles up soft and gentle
With a trace of misty morning
And the promise of tomorrow in her eyes
I just can't help believin'
When she's lying close beside me
And my heart beats with the rhythm of her sighs
This time the girl is gonna stay
This time the girl is gonna stay
For more than just a day
Oh, I just can't help believin'
When she slips her hand in my hand
And it feels so small and helpless
As my fingers fold around it like a glove
I just can't help believin'
When she's whispering her magic
And her tears are shining honey sweet with love
This time the girl is gonna stay
This time the girl is gonna stay
For more than just a day
For more than just a day
----------------------------------------------------------
