Erm ... just for scientific purposes ya know.
Any advice on how to not get bruised during a rather enjoyable spanking session.
* Can't wear shorts for a little while *
cupping the palm....
and *lifting* slightly on contact... still get the sting if thats what you require...
but heavey contact is lost, so bruising doesnt occur
i need to practice.....

What about when it's a paddle being used?
Don't tempt me bad boy !! wink
paddle?
hmm..
I guess you just have to have the *feel* for it.
if bending over...the target ea has to be a little more carfully selected, and beware the edges of the paddle striking first!
I couldnt tempt a mouse with cheese me!

Having a cool compress available afterwards will help along with Arnica Gel ........ helps control bruising, swelling etc. but not for use on broken skin. You can take in pillule form too before the event. Both are available in Boots.
After the event (the BDSMer in me so wants to say scene) just place the compress on the area for a short while, it'll help constrict the blood vessels.
A good vitamin supplement (plenty of vit c) will also assist.

You can get Arnica in tablet form as well Calista biggrin Not sure if it would help to prevent bruising though dunno
Sorry Abilene, I dont like spanking so I am absolutely no use what so ever :lol2:

LOL Shireen the pillules are the tablets ~ I trained for a while in Homeopathy, but chose the Massage/Aromatherapy route.
How does it work?
Arnica works by stimulating the activity of white blood cells which process congested blood, and by dispersing trapped fluids from joints and muscles and bumped and bruised tissue. It also has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities and it is these that help to reduce pain and swelling as well as improving wound healing.

I quoted ivillage as it's one of the best explanations out there.

Thanks for the advice.
Right now my ass and upper legs ( at the back ) look like an army have been marching over them.
Calista redface surprisedops:
I luffs Arnica I does :inlove: I use it all the time for my RSI and painful joints biggrin
Abi, if this could be regular then I would recommend taking the pillules for about 12 hours before and using the compress after, and then using the gel.
You could get some gel now but as the bruising has already come out, it will heal more than prevent. If you're showering/bathing don't have the water too hot either.
I've often advised people having physical fun to add arnica to their "toybox"

Now hun, when have any of you ever known anything to be regular with me. lol.
It was very spur of the moment so 12 hours before wasn't an option.

Slightly off topic, but helpful anyway!
I recently knew two peeps who had v. similar surgical incisions within days of each other.
One of them was into alternative therapies and had been taking Arnica pills. Her scar healed incredibly quickly & neatly- unlike the other which was a raised red raw mess.
I know there could be lots of other factors- but it convinced me!
Also slightly off topic ( but it's my thread so fuck it ) .... how oh how have I gone 34 years without knowing I liked pain to the degree that I experienced???? I mean I always knew I like a little bit of pain but hold cow ... I can't even go into detail. Not sure I would want it everytime though as surely the enjoyment would wear thin.
how did you discover you liked pain???
im guessing kitty has got longer claws now, you can pop the cheque in the post.....

Nice red marks that last for a while but no bruises so far....maybe I'm not doing it right  or maybe you have sensitive skin :rascal:

The joys of this site. cool 8-)
Would never have thought of Arnica as a toy bag essential but can remember taking it after badly bruising my back in a work accident and it doing a good job.
Thank you Callista, a new thought for every day xx
Roger. 8-)
I've only been bruised once and that was when Ian was teaching someone else how to use 'toys' confused
Ian has never bruised me at all so I find that a bit strange :?
I did use Arnica after an OP once because the bruising wasn't going and I was amazed how quickly they shifted
some people bruise much easier than others, its not necesarily the way you have been slapped, it may just be the way you are, i suggest you are slapped in places people cant see lol
or wear a shell suit to work!! i can see you now lol
staggy
oh god shelll suits remember them
I think a lot depends on your biological makeup too. I only have to breath on my girlfriend and she bruises. Where as I can be well and truely flogged and have no marks the next day.

There, I think is your answer Abilene, not to be so brutally spanked  , there really is no need, if you enjoy pain, wink , then it may be an idea  to consider increasing the quantity of strokes not the severity.

Forgive my naiveity here, but I thought that if 'done properly' (ie: there's a certain 'technique' to spanking / using crops/ paddles etc) there shouldnt be any bruising???
nor should it hurt (in the sense of there being 'good' pain and 'bad' pain dunno (i know what i mean even if you dont!redface )
I'll openly admit to you that I dont know much about this at all, really not my cup of tea, thanks...... but.......I'm thinking specifically of a couple of people who have attempted to 'talk me into' pain play specifically with the statement that 'it wont mark you' ....'no, honest, the welts will be gone by morning'...yadda yadda...... but after a fairly nasty experience many moons ago, no-one's coming near me with owt like that anyway! :kissmyarse: - nor could I inflict it on anyone else (well, ok, yeah I could  - just not in a 'play' situation :lolsmile
So, having had a crop used to the point of drawing blood.....and since then being told that 'they' simply wern't 'doing it right' and blood/ bruising/ angry welts for 2 weeks after just shouldnt happen.....to reading this thread with posts about arnica, cold compress & marks/ bruising being dependent on how easily someone bruises anyway...... and fuck meee I'm confused. loon
Some people love the bruises!

each to their own and all that, but I'm wincing at the thought of it! God, I'm so nesh  surprisedops:
I think i'll be spending the rest of my evening doing some research :dunno:
You are right, Darkfire. If it is done properly, all you get left with is the pleasure and none of the pain. But there are people out there who want to be bruised and will even complain if not bruised enough. confused As for not trusting those who promise you it won't hurt, etc. you are right again not to, as most people thinkthey are experienced in doing stuff and using tools just because they did it a few times...
Abilene, I am glad you discovered another interest in life, but be careful, my dear, there are a lot of crazed up people out there and too many bad things that can happen to you, especially if you are sharing other people's toys.
I'm still none the wiser redface I just dont 'get it'
someone help me out here lol
