Huge hugs for you. I know from my Mum's experience how hard it can be.
What worked for her was to have her carpets cleaned and hard surfaces cleaned down (by me). It washed away all the tar and smoky smell from the house and she said it was a real pleasure walking in and smelling a clean fresh house.
Carrot sticks might be better than maltesers though.
good luck, i was on 30-40 a day when i gave up about 15 years ago
Go Corrie .. Go Corrie

Good luck corrie
go for it.... you will feel so much better and now is a bloody good time to stop as its getting cold and rainy and miserable.....now you don't want to be standing out side in that, now do you.... so come and join us sensible ones inside the pub in the warm.
seriously good luck and don't let it slip....and forget week thursday..come on ali and pete....join in now.
The very best of luck Corrie ...it really is so very well worth the effort.
I gave them up about 7 years ago and was a 30+ a day man.
The pointers that have made my attempt successful so far( Do not kid yourself that you have ever given them up ...we are all in the process of giving them up...it's just a matter of how far we have got)are:-
1)You must get your head sorted so that you really do want to give them up ....debate it seriously and honestly with yourself ...or with me if that helps.
2)Get through the first two days .....they are a mountain of Everest proportions . Don't think it's only two days IT ISNT its probabaly the greatest amount of willpower you've ever called upon.
3)Believe point two wholeheartedly.
4)Celebrate and be proud of your achievement after two days . Do something or buy your self something as a reward.
5)Cherish with a passion your achievement so far. Use that pride to get you through any moments of weakness . Understand that you cannot succumb to even one cigarrette for that would be to throw away what you've fought so very very hard to achieve to date.
6)Put aside the money you would have spent on cigs (with me it was a day)at the end of the week buy youurself something with it . When you have gone several weeks and you start to feel the physical benefits you can save up a whole months worth and reallytreat yourself ...it's a wonderful motivator.
7) Remember how hard it is to give up ....(you know you've tried before probably many times)and let that reinforce your achievement day by day.
I am here to help if you need it ...but I'm afraid the only one that can do it is yourself
Best of luck

good luck Corrie - will be thinking of you!! Ive cut right down to about 5 - 7 a day from about 15. Its hard, but we all have times when we have a smoke. I always have one when im having a coffee and on the pc,im trying hard to break the fag part of that habit.
I cough so much in the mornings its downright embarrassing and i WANT TO STOP smoking. I am going to, but at the moment im just cutting down...
Keep us informed as to how your getting on!!

Best of Luck Corrie hun
I was on 20 a day about 25 years ago, when I gave up, so I know how difficult it is, but I'm sure you can do it.
:therethere:
Good luck!!!
Den has also just given up 2 days ago, he's given up plenty times before, but something always makes him start again, usually someone else coming round to the house who smokes and he gives in to just one, then just a couple, then just for the weekend, then just this pack etc etc.......
Last time he started again was when we went to Barcelona where he decided to start smoking again seeing as you could in the pubs there, it's soo much easier to give up with the smoking ban I think!
He's going cold turkey which he tells me is easier than using the patches and gum, and so far so good!
Although, I have to admit although I hate smoking with a passion, i quite like the taste....

Good luck Corrie.

Good luck Corrie you go girl xxhugs jb xx
Corrie there is no doubt smoking is a physical addiction .Thats why it creates so many physical effects when we withdraw.
Congratulations on day 2 Wake up tomorrow and be so proud of yourself ...what you will have achieved will be immense.
The cravings will grab you several times a day over the coming weeks but rest assured their intensity will subside.
Develop a strategy to deal with the cravings as they occurr; for me it was either popping an extra strong mint as it gave me that full lung sensation or if practical a burst of excercise that made me seek lung fulls of fresh air at the same time exposing and reminding me what fags had done to my lung capacity.
On saturday buy yourself something nice with the cig money you would have spent over the 4 days.(Don't offset the cost of the patches)
Go Girl ...Looking forward to stealing a kiss from you at the Manc munch
