davedixon1... I see the makings for you holding your first social
Go for it!! biggrin
we know of a pub in derby that gets only 2 customers on one night in the week and are willing to open it up to swingers on that night but as its only a 1 room venue it would still be open to the public albeit historical data tells us on average only 2 people drink there. other problem is its a tuesday night.

woe betide any occasion happening outside of bedfordshire.....
yes, being that the author is only 13 miles from us thought derby would be close enough for his thoughts on he was in scotland we wouldnt of answered it.

hi all,
today i got up and feelling ruff went to work but ended up at mates pub (dont ask) over a drink he complained about business and other things etc. i jokingly said why dont u have a night just for swingers and lock up....we laughed but i came away and thought not bad idea....................... do u guys know of such places or tried this?

That's very much like the format for a Munch or large social.
Usually the venues are separate rooms e.g. upstairs so we have a separate room and bar, but the recent Yorkshire munch was held in a pub that had been closed to the public for the night.
Usual turnout for a munch is on average about 100 people so yes it definately does happen.
If you're thinking of going ahead with it or want to ask any questions, feel free to ask here or in pm

There's a pub in the town centre of where I live that's thinking about it
along with regular fetish nights and various other 'events'. I've already been offered exclusive use - but turned it down rolleyes
Bit too 'on the doorstep' for me , and certainly not the best of ideas when it comes to personal safety and acceptance of 'yocals' :scared:

Desperately looking for the "Sigh of relief" emoticon lol
hummm a pub that opens its room's just for swingers, sounds like a munch to me!!! how comes noone else has had this idea b4? lol
The idea of having a pub where people meet regularly might mean that they were nearer to people than the clubs seem to be? Although I suspect that they could get overrun with men? However, perhaps local people could be responsible for the organisation of local groups in these venues. Despite different likes and dislikes it is a common issue that everyone could relate to and share experience and advice?
When I read thisfirst I thought it was meant to say where am I more likely to be fixed up with someone if I go out for a drink? This certainly happens in some pubs where, because it is a public place people can go out for a drink/lively night out but are more likely to find a partner if that is what they are looking for and yet can still walk out of the place uncommitted.
Seems as though we need both but because having sex with someone you don't know very well is still seen as a secret activity by society we need more openness in society to have a lot of different ways to meet the right kind of people.
This all seems a little cerebral so I am going to lie down in a darkened room lol
and await more learned replies.
i OWN a pub............thought about it, have 3 seperate rooms one of which is a basement bar but not sure.
if your not sure , then don't.

As an 'ex' licensee, Id think twice about it. It only takes one complaint to the Licensing Comittee and thats your livelihood up the swanny! Unless of course the Licensing Magistrates are swingers too and that would be a bonus! wink

Not sure that I have ever been to any pub meet where they were all swinging in the open pub lol - why would the locals know it any different to any other kind of pub meet eg gay pub, biker etc if it was regular? dont need to advertise it really just meet for a drink? and why could a magistrate take a licence? am I being thick?

i wasn't actually thinking of allowing any actual swinging to take place on the premises although some pub/clubs around here get a bit rauncy shall we say. rolleyes
I really can't see how anyone wpould know any difference from any other mixed sex party as long as people don't come in a runner mask and flippers and parade through the restaurant on a leash.
no i meant it in as much as it affects my own personal life, word gets around in my part of the world and i worry about that side of things.....i shouldn't, but i do/.

Thats exactly what I meant! Sorry I didnt make myself clear, I need to get used to posting here, please bear with me. redface
What I should have added is, it only takes one indiscretion for the word to get out and thats what would worry me too. Im not sure where your pub is but all of mine were in places where you couldnt go to the loo without the locals finding out before you had sat down and warmed the seat!
None of us should worry about what we do but unfortunatley Im sure lots of us do, me included and especially when it means jobs etc on the line. Its just a shame people cant get on with their lives and let others get on with theirs without judging something they dont know anything about.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do the 'Trade' isnt an easy vocation these days!
Apologises to all the other 'posters' too for not saying what I meant in the first place, for a resonably intelligent woman I can be pretty damn thick sometimes! surprisedops:

Corrie Ive tried to answer you questions 3 times now but not sure they got posted cos I keep getting 'timed out' but....no you arent thick, licensing laws are outdated and need overhauling. The Magistrates grant the licence and can revoke it at anytime for any reason they see fit.
Your example of bikers and gays.....I advertised one of my pubs as biker friendly and the locals were in uproar! " hells angels? long haired yobbos? in our local? no thanks we dont want that we arent having it!" I was quite offended as lots of my friends are bikers but it didnt stop the narrow minded bigots stereo typing them. Can you imagine if they found out about swingers using their local?? It does not need an advert for them to find out, just one act of indiscretion is all it takes and I think thats why Mostly Curious has concerns.
I really do need to express my opinions a little clearer...sorry still on L Plates here redface
no that's fine HelnHeaven - no offense taken, think you maybe too sensitive however, it does take time to 'belong' onany site i have noticed.
Totally agree with both your posts.
