Luckily Judy a little part of Lancashire Burnley area still keepes to the old wakes weeks well this is the last year, next summer the kids get 9 weeks summer holiday sad

to make it September when they start back and fall into line with the rest of the country

ah well, if you are in that funny part of lancashire where the second world war only ended yesterday, the rhythm of the seasons still follows the mill-workers and farm-labourers and they had to back at t'mill by middle of august to keep processing that cotton. Meanwhile, the harvest in mid september required them all to leave the mill and go back to the fields.

Currently two of the eleven Lancashire education districts operate different term times to the other nine, this is being changed next year so that from September 2006 they all fall into line.
Ooooh, get me being all serious :doh:

Mmmmmm, Burnley eh?.....Your web site says you are located in Manchester which is in a different county to Burnley ie GMC (greater Manchester county) Burnley is of course in Lancashire. rolleyes
