First of all it`s a copy of a jigsaw thumbnail, so isn`t original art, I just liked it enough to copy, and secondly, it`s buggered, I didn`t look after it, but thanks for the vote of confidence!

The second was a college project. We were supposed to provide a reaction to one of a choice of paintings. I chose John Waterhouse`s `Lady of Shallot`
Tennyson's poem, first published in 1832, tells of a woman who suffers under an undisclosed curse. She lives isolated in a tower on an island called Shalott, on a river which flows down from King Arthur's castle at Camelot. Not daring to look upon reality, she is allowed to see the outside world only through its reflection in a mirror. One day she glimpses the reflected image of the handsome knight Lancelot, and cannot resist looking at him directly. The mirror cracks from side to side, and she feels the curse come upon her. The punishment that follows results in her drifting in her boat downstream to Camelot 'singing her last song', but dying before she reaches there. Waterhouse shows her letting go the boat's chain, while staring at a crucifix placed in front of three guttering candles
So I rampaged off with ideas of `original sin` and images from the poem, depicting an `in your face` 3d girl munching on a forbidden apple, juxtaposed this with the 2d tragic heroine, used images of the mirror, a book..........yadda yadda
and was nearly failed as a result!
The girl who did an installation using lots of broken glass (as a response to the glint off the water) recieved a much better mark!
Note to self: cut through the crap and don`t call a bloody spade a shovel!
The actual piece is not very well executed as we didn`t have time to pay attention to detail. It was ideas they wanted, and I had a few too many!

They are brill Venus!! I'd be hard pushed to draw WBB's avatar, let alone anything more complex! My art only extends as far as poetry (if anyone would call mine art lol) but your's really are good

All I can say is I think they are fantastic. A real talent hiding itself under a bushel!!
Come to think of it there is quite some talent in different areas hereabouts. The Poetry corner gives evidence to that and we are understandably well blessed with wordsmiths but this is something else.

Ok I go away for a pervy weekend and I come back and I find you've started an 'art' thread! And then you're wondering why no one else has posted any of their works on here! Well, we were all else where an don't you know it!
Anyway, here is one of my more interesting pieces. It's called seascape. You'll all have to stand back about 3 feet to get the full effect!

LC that is great. I always used to think that style of painting was easy but IT AIN'T! What exactly is the medium?
Unfortunately I only have a few pencil drawings and they're portraits of the kids - many years old now - so I can't offer anything.
Anybody got any more out there or are you all worried about the quality of the competition so far.
