I cannot stand boot fairs.
Sifting through other peoples junk....does it for some I suppose.
As the saying goes " where theres muck , theres brass ".
Still with the credit crunch I suppose they will have even more people there.
Boot fairs are not for me but as they say "one mans junk is another mans treasure".
My friend swears by them. I prefer charity shops.
I love boot fairs and always have. They fit neatly into my values regarding recycling and social welfare.
I used to buy and sell books for pin money. I started off pretty much ignorant of real values and simply bought cheap books I thought might have a decent market value and sold em on if they turned out to be worth anything. After a year or two I became pretty well informed. I had to stop then because I felt like a crook paying 20p for something I knew would bring in £50 if I sold it on.
I still go to boot fairs and still buy stuff that I need. My best purchases last year were a pair of bongos for 20p, a 70s leather motorcycle jacket for a fiver and a guitar flight case for a tenner.
they call them boot 'fairs' now do they...?
great places to pick up stolen/ broken/ dangerous goods...
i recall a few years ago..erm perhaps over ten years ago when walking round oone of these boot sales as they were then and seeing a woman approach the guy selling bikes... thats my sons bike she screamed... no its not came the reply .. a crowd gathered and the argument ensued. finally when enough people were standing around ..the lady asked the guy...look under the saddle then...and ill tell you in black felt pen that my sons post code is written there.. now that was fun to watch.. he gave her the bike telling her he had bought it ...
im sure they have their place in society but certainly in the midlands all too often they have turned into cheap markets with a no returns policy , not proper car booters as it started off but trade stands with cheap pitches.
btw we have a few acres doing nothing 5 quid a pitch and my mind will change completely on the subject
staggy n rose
The only thing I ever got from a boot sale that lasted longer than a week was food poisoning from the burger van.
I CANNOT believe I just worked out that this is about CAR boots - not the ones you wear.
I sooo need a holiday!!!!!!!!!
never been to one, as they don't happen that often where I come from..
would love though, but...where in cambs do they hold bootsales?
any suggestions on how to find out? don't seem to find anything sensible on google.
