Tonight in the chatroom we had a little debate on the merits of biscuits and there dunkabilty factor.
What are peoples thoughts on this?
I have a few. These are that:-
A = Garibaldi's are the worst dunkers
being almost waterproof
B = Butterthins are possible but only in
an advanced dunkers remit
C = Malted Milk, possibly the perfect dunk
Anyone care to add there views on this? It
was an interesting topic for 5 mins in the chatroom until the enevitable
"is this a Swingers site" rolleyes
Urgh, can't bear dunked biscuits
Both my kids tho, have the revolting habit of the Tim Tam Slam confused Biting the ends off the biscuit, then sucking the tea up inside, before shoving rest of now soggy biscuit in their mouths :?
Taught to them by my delightful cousin rolleyes
Tim Tams!!! My Aussie podmate at work brought some in the other day. Made us line up and try the slam thing. Have to say they are gorge BUT they are really just penguin biscuits though aren't they. With a different name and no joke on the wrapper. Not complaining though mmmmmmm

I just lurve malted milk and shortbread (but not the gorgeous scottish type, this is just toooo nice to dunk) biscuits dunked in a nice hot cup of milky coffee but since I started drinking my coffee black, I have found that the biccies just dont taste the same.
So dry biccies for me now (notice, I have NOT stopped the biccies though) wink
As for the swinging bit, you cant swing the biccies when you've dunked them, they are too sloppy and will fall to bits confused
I hate tea and coffee
so I'll just have jaffa cakes please
:giggle:
Is this a 'mass debate'?
Anyone seen the Peter Kay dvd with his take on this?
"Hobnobs... They're the Marines of biscuits... Go on, dunk me again... and again.."
Very funny!
Found a link to it:

jaffa cakes are a cake x
scottish butter short bread for dunkin in coffee got to be the old faithfull rich tea fingers for tea tho
digestives just horrid dunked n ya cant dunk jaffa cakes
dunked fig rolls are just yuuuuukkk, and the multicoloured iced bikkies (party rings i think) are horrible when dunnked too. In fact i am now on a quest to find the perfect dunking bikkie as i can only think of ones that i dont like dunking lol.
Hmmmmm now look what you lot have started i'm gonna have to go shopping now. :giggle:

I love dunking kit kats.
I think they are a choccy bar.
I also like dunking Flakes, and Ripples!!
I see a chocolate pattern!!!!
Not overly keen on biscuits though!!!

I've only ever dunked Rich Tea Fingers. You have to be precise with your timings, but because they don't have much of their own flavour they lend themselves nicely to any hot drink. ;-)
oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhyes Cue I forgot about rich teas, yum

no one's mentioned milk chocolate digestives yet  I'm stunned!
my current fad is the 'limited edition' Banoffee Pie flavour ones dunked in coffee :inlove:
It's got to be (the leading brand of) Plain Chocolate Digestives - the chocolate holds the biscuit together longer thus avoiding "sunken-biscuit syndrome" and it's corresponding dilemma. Do you leave it to sink to the bottom or rush to rescue it. Do you scald your fingers trying to scoop it out or are you more genteel, using a spoon?

Thank you so much for saying this! For ages ive argued with an aussie work colleague that Timtams are just jumped up penguins and she wouldnt have it.
I knew i was right lol
Lost- I have a bone to pick with you!!!!
I've just got back from TKD, had a brilliant session & the only fly in the ointment was that I gained a busted knuckle. So I get in, Buddy tape my knackered finger to the next one, hover around the kettle & finally say to myself "no I DO NOT need tea & biccies".
So in I come & fire up SH. Five minutes & one thread about tea & biccies later, and I'm sitting here typing with one hand & dunking with the knackered one.
And then I realise I've dunked my fecking fingers!!!! Right up to the knuckle lol
It's all your fault smackbottom
(chocolate digestives BTW)

Too damn right they are!! Doesn't detract from how lovely they are, but let's be honest - would you know the difference??
We have the same argument over Cheezels, which are just Wotsits in different packaging. Again, nice but let's not pretend to be something we're not biggrin
The Tim Tams you get here dont taste the same as they do at home.... No idea why dunno The chocolate is far nicer though on the ones in Australia confused
Dunking biscuits... Hhhmmm... Got to be custard creams for me biggrin
Rich Tea fingers also expand in a mesmorising way when dunked.
Yummy soggy biscuit and entertainment all in one hit.

Isnt it just the pits losing a beloved coffee saturated treat to the bottom of the mug!!! big dilemma hmmm thinking hard now

Would it not be that chocolate would possibly ruin the purity and innocence of a good cup of coffee! confused:

I brought a load back last year from Oz and to be honest I didnt like them (like penguins tho confused ).
I brought all the different flavours back and the new Chilli ones..
In the US they go mad for tims tams and put alcohol in coffee, then SLAM! Quite a messy way to eat something hehe
As for dunking biscuits, I used to love cream ones, milk chocolate digestive, foxes crumbles.. dunked. I dont eat biscuits much now... Im a good gal smile
Wheres the cakes....mmmmmm
xanaisx
I love it.........two of my favourite things...alcohol and biscuits.........
Seriously though - they do chilli ones???

Any milk chocolate digestives - but those McVities ones with the caramel in are well deserving of a good dunking.
Milk Chocolate Hobnobs are the ultimate luxury in dunking experiences.
Jaffa cakes? Wrong!!!!
Chocolate goes with caramel and/or nuts. Not orange, not mint (unless it's Matchmakers).
Please get your facts right before posting such inane bollox as dunking Jaffa's.
what is this Forum coming to??
Some years back I used to make my own biscuits, the recipe was highish in fat and those biscuits had a dunkabilty factor of 10/10. biggrin
To achieve a high rating, a biscuit must soak very quickly in your hot drink (I prefer tea, white no sugar lol) but not fall apart.
Cheaper biscuits tend to go floppy very easily or take too long to soak through and then go floppy.
Now Marya about the Jaffa Cake, I dunk them and I'm proud of it! They are the only non-biscuit that can be dunked I think!! :D :D
