at the risk of sounding ven-dick-tive, and totally unoriginal rolleyes take a break
Why not try a PO Box I know it costs but then it stops the need for who ever is going to organise the pin badges to use their personal address
This way its open to all the sections of Swinging Heaven and those not attending any munches also have an avenue to recieve a pin
Just a thought
Vicky
Still have restervations on the SH logo, it will cost more to get drafted up as it is more complex, and I think anyone who has ever seen the site would know what it meant. A small oval badge, a few letters (SH?), much more discreet, and having simply seen SH once would not be enough to understand what the badge meant smile
If it aint broke dont fix it ! The logo is fine as it is and makes a great pin .

I agree, a PO box for mail orders would be ideal. Also I'd like to explore the possibility of enabling people to buy anonymously by using postal orders.
Kinda like the masons!Imagine walking down Oxford seeing one one someones lapel?!!
Cool or what?!

Yes it does, but something simple with SH on it gets my vote. Dont think we should use a gender at all on the pin as its not a true justification of SH and the diversity of the true members of the site.

Just a thought: It needs to be instantly recognisable to members, and the logo would certainly be that - but it would also be recognisable to lurkers/paparazzi etc. There are already a fair few ideas for subtle variations of existing Swinging/Swinging Heaven symbols floating around, ones which wouldn't be recognised by 'outsiders', and I think they deserve consideration.
I wasnt suggesting that you dont show us the ideas Pie mate . Go right ahead would love to see them . Im just jealous cos i fancy meself as a bit designer and came up with nothing simple and better than the original brand ( bit like heinz beans sometimes cant be bettered ) .

I know you weren't mate, I'm just keen for everyone to keep an open mind until they've looked at everyone's ideas because we've been getting some really great stuff and I'm all excited about gathering them up and putting them on show for you biggrin

wot about everyone has to go 6 rounds with blue ?

Sounds fun  no not starting TnH V Blue thread again, hehe...
Sorry, don`t do red and blue, it disagrees with my natural colouring! :giggle:

I wonder how long it will take after they come on sale before we see the first one up for auction on ebay?
Mike.
I liked the idea of a pin originally and would have purchased one but I was hoping it would be something a lot more subtle.
There is no way that I'd be wearing the pin if it the logo lady. I had thought it was going to be something more like just the oval halo design - so that is would not draw any comments at all from people who didn't know what it was.

Why not just use munches to get them to people?

After a little while here I think we all know at least one person well enough to entrust with our details and cash to go and buy, it seems to me this is a good idea.
The PO Box and postal order idea is a good one, although in terms of anonymity it only protects the vendor, since a return name and address is obviously required. I guess short of dead letter drops it's going to be unavoidable for those who'd like to deal by post.

If this idea happens, someone, somewhere will end up being responsible for it - including management of the money and the distribution.
Stick with something simple - and for anyone who wants a badge, say to them, 'this is how it is done, if you want one, put the effort in, and go and get one'
Put the responsibility on to the person who wants it - not the poor soul who volunteers to be the point of contact.
Nobody seems to think that selling at munches is a bad idea, so as a start:
"Pin badges will onlybe available for cash at munches"
So now you can get a pin badge by going to a munch, or asking someone who is going, to pick one up for you.
If that does not reach enough people:
"Pin badges can be ordered for parties, minimum order of ******, only one order per party"
Now you can also get them if you go to a party, or by asking someone who is going, to pick you one up.
If that still does not reach enough people:
"Individuals can order badges, minimum order of ********. Orders will be accepted at the discretion of ?????"
People can now organise themselves to order badges. What discretion ?????? shows could depend on Forum membership, chatroom membership, simple intuition and gut feeling, or any other criteria they choose to impose.
If there are still people left out
"You can order an individual pin badge, but you had better have a bloody good reason for needing to do so"
Might have to flower the language up a bit.
I think everyone wants the badge to say: "I am a member of the SH community"
not: "Me an me m8tes get em off the net cos we thort it was kewl fing an a larf so we all wears em now, innitt"
As to the design - the pin I had in mind was tie pin sized, so the lady logo would be very small and discrete, not obvious to the casual observer.
However, then there is my mother-in-law, who misses nothing rolleyes so I will be interested in the designs coming in.

i think the lady with the halo looks cool, but i have to agree that it is maybe a bit too recognisable and not going to be easy to justify on your lapel.
i think that just the blue and red oval on its own would be brill.
to SH members its is instantly recognisable, but to anyone else it just looks like a random oval pin!
For us personally. We would like a SH badge. We wouldn't wear it down the pub etc. For us it would be worn when we were going to meets, munches or pre munch drinkies etc.
We would prefer it to have no lettering. This would prevent having to explain things. A small inconspicuous badge would not arouse any suspicion.
If it does happen to end up with letter on it, our explanation would be "Shit Happens"
We have sent in a couple of simple designs.

Not expert on paying sorry.. personally I think the SH logo is too overt for me, I could not wear that to work!! Rather somthing smaller, maybe with initials SH in small writing on a yin yang symbol in the site pink / blue or similar?
That woud be suitably vague to be described as 'oh its a club I am a member of'. The very feminine outline on the logo is a little more suggestive smile

Well said TnH. I would not wear something like that because it would be bound to draw comment, & when (rather than if) it gets featured in the tabloids it will be far too memorable. Once that happens, many people will remember the design, so anyone who thinks that they are unrecognised as swingers when wearing the badge are fooling themselves. A simple oval would be far better.

How about:-
biggrin

Fine if you want to be noticed & have people ask questions about it, but no good if you want to be discrete.

I rest my case.

There's over 16 000 registered users of this site ! confused
And your point is ..........

Yes I assumed you can read !
Simply that the number of people who attend munches is a very small minority of site members and probably a minority of posters. How do you know that " almost anyone that wants one will know someone going to a munch"?
Assuming that the badge is so that people can recognise you as a SH member, with such small numbers, the chances of actually ever seeing anyone in the street wearing one is pretty slim.
Personally I'm not inclined to wear any badges but for those that are, if it is a symbol of recognition, why not make it available as easy as possible to the widest possible audience?
Now Scandal your not being judgmental by any chance are you :giggle:
I guess the answer to the subtle question is that a badge is a badge and it wouldnt matter what you used the only people that would know for sure what it represented would be those that had read about it here . If you make it a picture of a powersaw with crossed swords and an eggplant it would still only be recognised if you had read the site , and that would mean the press too ( whatever the design) . the only answer to being worried about wearing it , is not to wear it . thats not being nasty but its just reality im afraid .
Many charities have these badges specially made. Why dont we make this one a charity badge with the proceeds going to vix's Tits out for Multiple Sclerosis?
Oh sorry I havent been keeping up ..............so is the suggestion now that people who attend munches only qualify for a badge . LOL well in that case it goes staright on the shit idea list along with the great "verification" debate .
If people wanna wear the badge they can surely wear it , its not a life or death thing , were not talking yellow star in Nazi germany here were talking about a pin indicating a membership and hence a certain set of interests and attitudes . We have enough cryptic sharing on the boards about munches , lovely as im sure they are , and although one day we may well attend one to meet the great characters involved in the site we sure wont be told we have to as some kind of qualification .
Like alot the light hearted ideas that nice folks have on here it all seems to have been given a bit too much gravitas :-)
I reckon whoever pays for em should decide on the design , all alone with their own cash and opinion .
