My apologies if this topic has already been covered.
But a recent post by Jaymar set me thinking.
I don't think I've seen a serious thread on this topic.
And this is a serious post. The following views and findings are mine (Tanina) and not Stuart's as he's a complete non-believer lol
We live in a very old house. This house still has some of it's old inhabitants living here. There is at least one on each floor and we have four floors, cellar, ground floor, upstairs and attic. Although the spirits are not evil they can be rather annoying sometimes and making me very jumpy at others.
Starting in the cellar - there is a man down there who is rather partial to ladies bottoms. Everytime I go there to use the tumble drier he pinches my bum  Stuart always laughs at me when I make my way rather quickly to the kitchen from the cellar evil As you can imagine, I don't go down there very often.
On the ground floor, we have a lady who walks along the corridor and then out through what used to be the original doorway for her but is now only a wall  She only every does that so it's not frightening to see her.
Also on the ground floor is a man who stands by the telephone at the other end of this same corridor  He only stands there so he's not intimidating.
Upstairs, in one of the bedrooms there is the occasional moving of the bed in the night - this is very frightening. Sometimes there is bouncing of the bed while Stuart is asleep and I'm desperately not trying to open my eyes and be frightened even more.
In another bedroom there was something really evil. This had been brought in from outside. I requested the household spirits to help get rid, this they did and I'm grateful to them.
The last one is in the attic. A work colleague visited our house for the first time recently and said that while she was standing by the big picture window she felt she was intruding in somebody's personal space. Also in the attic - it cannot be called a loft because it is the length and breadth of the house and big enough to make two rooms, it also has a proper staircase - things get moved about and sometimes you can actually hear walking up there. No-one can get in there without the key, we keep the attic door securely locked.
But, apart from all this the house is lovely to live in. They don't cause me any problems and I let them carry on living here.
Does anybody else have such experiences?
Or is it me? confused

Ok you got me I'll leave the cellar rolleyes
I've often watched paranormal things on the TV.. there's nearly always an explanation for everything, mostly magnetic theories.
Tania, here's a site that may be of interest to you.. I hope you find some answers or solutions somewhere along the line. lol
Never seen a ghost and dont want to in fact I request they leave me alone. People I know who have died thanks but no thanks will see you all later much later hopefully. Having said that I have always been very intrigued with teh paranormal I just dont want to be personnaly involved.
If there is activity in your house set up trigger objects and prove it happens. You could try filming your bed for starters (insert funnys here) and see if it moves on tape.
Cheers

Thanks, just had a quick look and it is a website that I'll have to have a good look at tomorrow. And at a bit earlier time

some people are naturally open to these type of experiences
my mam has seen a man walk through the house and my sister saw a little boy constantly, while living at my parents i never saw a thing, but the back attic bedroom i would never sleep in, something just didnt feel right and i couldnt go in there
ok this is where everyone thinks i am a nutter
i dont have too much problem in my house, or i didnt until one of my dogs passed, i always slept on the bed and had to lay his head on me. for afew months after i had him put to sleep through cancer, i had an oppressive weight on me when i was asleep, i couldnt move although i was awake and i hated it, i did a little spell to move his spirit on and havent had a problem since, but i do cast a protective spell round my bed.
so when i eventually come to stay i have to sleep between the two of you
Hmmm. confused
Like Stuart I am a non-believer - but an open minded one. My view is that don't have any incontrovertible evidence, but I will try and take a rational view of events. So, given that I am starting off from a sceptical viewpoint......
We too live in an old house which is spread over several floors.
For some reason our bedroom is markedly colder than the rest of the house - even when the radiator is on full blast.
Our neighbour (the two houses used to be one building)has reported some very strange events and, when I talk to local people, no-one is surprised. This includes one of the local pub landlords who is an ex-marine and a Falklands veteran who I wouldn't have thought is frightened of anything. Yet, when he found out where I lived, he said "Have you noticed anything strange happening - and be honest now!"
So there is clearly a perception of something unusual. I have got up in the night to investigate children's voices/laughter/cries only to find that all the children are fast asleep!
I don't experience any 'bad vibes' at all - just a feeling that some of the former residents are still with us. And I don't even believe in that stuff!
Will dunno
In the cottage I used to live in we were visited by an old lady. We used to hear her all the time going up and down the stairs, my son used to chat away to the empty air and we saw the stairgates and cot sides go up and down by themselves (fairly freaky!). We used to see her walk across the top of the stairs and the kitchen window. It never felt scary though, more like having your favourite elderly relative to stay.
Cried when I moved because I missed her!
I do some camera work for a paranormal investigation team and we have had some truly strange stuff happen to us. Having said all that I'm still not sure I believe - still searching for that rational explanation I suppose.
2 of the mediums I work with specialise in clearances. If you fancy having us over to investigate your house, PM me...
Tanina, have you not thought about inviting the 'most haunted 'crew up to yours,It sounds like something they may be interested in,I haven't encountered anything like that at all,I don't know if I'm missing out or what but i'm sure derek thingimibob would love to walk round yours, just a thought, john

This sums up exactly how I feel about this subject. Fascinated by the subject but don't ever want to experience it first hand. If you feel this way you are less likely to have an experience, so 'they' say.
Who would stay in a house like this ........ ????
Flippancy aside i'm not a beliver but i would never deny anothers right to believe. Many times i have been proved wrong so i am open to be being proved wrong about weirdo stuff. I have only ever had one spine chillingly supernatural event happn in my life and i can explain it away which i suppose makes it less supernatural and more just very weird.
I'm a complete believer Tanina... and it must be very scary sometimes...
I don't "see" things as such...I see them more in my mind's eye...It's hard to explain...
When I used to sleep I could see a little girl in my mind sitting on my bed, and I could feel her, but when I opened my eyes there was nobody there...
I see things out of the corner of my eye, flashing lights and things moving...but when I look directly at them I don't see anything...
I think I would call myself empathic rather than anything else...if that makes sense...
I would recommend Tanina that you try talking to the Spirits and see if there is anything they want you to do or if they are just friendly ghosts...
Three times I tried to reply to this and every time I wrote summat, then clicked on an emoticon, my text dissappeared :scared:
Will say that the one who pinches your bottom has got good taste :rascal: :rascal: so dont be surprised if "he" follows you to a munch!
Seriously, I am open minded about this, and while a tv programme does nothing to help the non believers, my view is and will always be prove that they cannot exist, as life outside this planet may exsist, ableight not in a form that we may recognise.
note to self - next time we stay at Stuart and Tanina's house, a] firstly make sure i go to loo before bed and b] take bart with me to loo if i do have to get up!! Im scared....... biggrin

While my Great Aunty was in hospital several of the family reported seeing a young gentleman in a brown suit sitting on her bed.
When she died a few weeks later my cousin saw him sat in the funeral car carrying her body.
My Uncle decided to trace the family tree. And discovered that my Aunty, a childless spinster throughout her life had had a little boy during the war. Usual story, unmarried, american soldier, shame on the family. He was given up for adoption, and as was common during the time, was 'given' to a childless family a couple of streets away from where my Aunty lived.
He died when he was about 18, not sure why. But blurry pictures of the time show him to be the person we all saw visiting my Aunty.
Tanina, I'll protect you hun. My hand will be protecting your bum whenever you want it to lol
Can you :sparring: ghosts dunno
honest though, I do believe but have yet to see one
About 20-25 years ago I was looking around for accommodation, I found myself in a run of dodgy houses. For various reasons they had been overlooked inn the buyers market and been taken over by housing associations.
They were all lousy places, but the worst aspect was the constant ill feeling and arguments amongst the inhabitants.
After a massive bust up and the exit of some people I was tidying up in the hallway of one house and looked up at the window above the front door. A strange name had been painted in the window. From the outside it looked as if it was Welsh. The name was WONLLEHNI.
So for as long as we were there, nobody twigged what this curious name meant, until the day when I realised what it was. If you reverse the name it says IN HELL NOW.
I have no doubt that the house had an evil spirit in it, which was causing us all to argue, at times very nastily.
I moved onto another house, which again I felt had an evil spirit. Ther were some terrible arguments and constant bad feelings in this house. I often felt there was someone watching me when I was alone.
So although I haven't seen anything, I believe that some places and events can have an evil spirit at work.

Must admit there are never any bad vibes except when there were 2 new spirits arrive - don't know if they were invited by my son or his friends, but got rid of them with the help of the house spirits.
Yes, I know what you mean about hearing laughter, cries, voices etc. I hear these sometimes too.

I actually hadn't thought of them but it could be a good idea........that's something else to think about.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Not in our house thankfully, we live in a fairly new house an as such there is not a lot of history connected with it so echoes of the past are very minimal indeed.
We did stay in York recently at a hotel which was the oldest coaching inn in England "The Black Swan" its fantastic, very old and nostalgic and very spooky too, we stayed in the oldest part of the place the side wing and it had a little walk in cupboard in it, me being impeccably neat and tidy hung my clothes up in there as im a bit of a freak for well ironed clothes.
Anyway we went down stairs an had a drink at the bar and the landlord was filling us in on some of the history of the place an the ghosts said to haunt it, but said he would leave one out till the morning.
We went back upstairs to get changed and i opened the door of the walk in closet to find my clothes scattered on the floor, coat hangers laid in a neat pile on said floor. Rather pissed off i went down the stairs to have a word with the landlord thinkin he had been in the room an played a trick on us, "those are the only stairs up to your room pal" he said (which they were an we had been sat next to them the whole time an nobody had passed us!!
He then said we should go to the York Dungeon an ask them about the little girl bricked up in the wall at the black swan inn, we did an the story terrified us, during renovation work in 1980's the builders found a hidden room that contained a skeleton of a little girl who had been bricked up as she got the plague an her family tried to keep it covered up (they were a very wealthy family and thought it would harm there reputation ffs) by bricking her up in there, they subsequently got the plague too an she died in there!
Needless to say we shat our pants!!

Not again!!!.......
We live in an old house too.
Our house is a small terraced house which back in the early 1900's used to house the workers from the old mill. (which is now council buildings.)
In our cellar we think there is an old lady. You never see her, but you hear what can only be descirbed as 'slopping' sound, like water. The only thing we can think of is that she is doing her washing, as the cellar still has the old stone table that they used to scrub their clothes on.
We also know for definate that there are two young children who play on the stairs. We have heard laughing and crying... and heard items falling down the stairs. (and of course when you go to investigate there is nothing there.)
Dean thinks that the children sometimes come into the living room. He says that when he is sat at the pc after I have gone to bed, he sometimes thinks someone is stood behind him.
He's often started to talk to them because he thinks that i have come back downstairs.
Theyre not malicious in anyway, but I dont think they are going to take too kindly to the plans by the council to demolish the street. There wont be no buildings for them to inhabit as the road is being widened.
I hope they wont be too upset as they seem fairly friendly.

Perhaps you can help them to cross over so that they can be with people they love and not be homeless when the street gets knocked down.
Thank goodness there is no danger of our house being demolished - at least not yet - so the spirits here can live happily as long as they stay nice and friendly.

What an awful end for an innocent child. It's no wonder she is angry at having her space invaded.

It sounds fab! :bounce:
Seriously I'd love to try and experience what you have with all those spirits.
