Right I’m off, this is not a flounce this is an “I’m bloody fed up with the attitude of some people on this I have made some great friends on the board but when threads start to get locked as often as they have in the past week then I get pissed off. The we’ll meet again thread in the dogging section is the latest one to be locked and for me is the last straw.

ops: I have noticed there a harmless thread which has been now locked :shock: . I dont usually like commenting but this thread surely was not really harming anyone? Some people have obviously met through it and do whatever doggers do! yes Butters I'm coming along with you.....we had a friendly thread.... alot of newbies to come along and join in the banter that went on....we hurt no-one...don't seem there is anywhere that we allowed to have fun these days in here. But yea don't worry i get the hint....maybe it is the big hand in my back pushing me towards the door named exit that helped.

I am also upset that this thread has been locked,.. how can people say it was useless when there have been quite a few 'newbies' who've used it to ease themselves in to the forum. Making your very own first post is scary, espesh with all the put downs you can get from it.. its much easier and welcoming to be able to join an existing thread, with a few well known memebers there who can offer guidance etc.. Isn't this what the forums are about? Dean, Juliette, Butters and the rest from the thread.. it was lovely getting to know you all, and I hope you will keep in touch

I see anger in you all, young Jedi's. I feel more resignation than anger. One man is the final arbiter here and my guess is that there has been a lot of discussion between the mods on this, especially as it has been locked then unlocked before. My guess is that the man from button moon made a decision, not because he wants it locked, but more because he felt it the fair thing to do as so much else has been pruned away over the last few days.
Whilst perusing the historic quotes and figures threads yesterday and bearing in mind Marks comments on them I wondered if an unintended elitism had started to descend upon the forum, don't get me wrong, I'm not accusing anyone of elitism and I certainly do not believe Mark or any mods to be elitist. If these sort of off topic, but high-brow threads are all that are allowed to remain then those not eligible for MENSA membership may feel uncomfortable and out of place here and be driven away.
I fully understand the need to avoid the amount of noise that has been here of late, but do we want to silence it totally, save the odd on topic comment? That’s not my decision, but I don’t think that is intended. The mods are firmly wedged between a rock and a hard place, or if you prefer between the xxdevil69 and the deep Bluexxx sea. What do you do? Do you allow regional banter threads to pop up and clutter one of the boards? I doubt it. Do you leave one thread when all others have been removed? That would be totally unfair. What about a new board, a regional banter board? That may work I guess, but I feel that there would be one thread used and desolation in the others. Should the “We’ll meet again†thread be moved to the café where you can “Post anything here that is NOT a Meet Up or about Not with the current spate of thread deletion. I don’t know what they should do, do you?
Mark did say that this board is constantly evolving and that he maintains an open mind, a la verification. Anger and argument will not serve to change minds, discussion may.
Let’s be careful out there, and let’s hope a reprieve is given.

Please let's not get into "Sorry to see you go" I am quite certain that the people above do not want that.
This is more like the situation you get when a meeting place is closed down, you get anger, frustration and feelings of isolation and persecution, whether those feelings are valid or not. You don't want someone to mop your brow, you want someone to sign your petition and hope that it makes a diference.

I don't think D_M had anything to do with it Rose, it was just coincidental that he was posting his thoughts at the time. Neither do I think that it helps matters to suggest that fun is not allowed on SH, I realise that those comments were probably made out of frustration, but detract from your point that this thread brought like minded people together in a very real sense, I guess the thread was like a 24/7 munch.
