This is something I wrote the other week after losing one of the best friends I've ever had. I had posted it in the poetry thread but I make no apologies for posting it in here too.
As you raise your glass in celebration, let your thoughts be of those no longer around
Loved ones and friends who rest in another world, free from pain and anguish
Unseen by human eyes but always there by your side and in your heart
Let a smile trace your lips as you recall happier days and memories sweet
When their laughter brightened your day and the sun warmed their face
Now mere shadows to follow and guide you. Be comforted by their spirit
