yes its been done before, but i decided to have a look at the internet dateing game, me being all internet savey and all.
I did not pay for anything, and on one site got a few emails and winks and thats with NOTHING on my profile. So decided to put info on, got a better response, and a couple asking for pics. So yes i put pics on got a few more enquires but could not read emails as not a full member, so paid for a month. Ok so the more you put in the more you get, I have done nothing but said a few words online in a profile and yet I have abetter response there than here.
ok the ratios will be vastly different so I now why, but is there more women wanting dates out there than men ?

Vanilla dating
I'm a member of a few dating websites, I used them before I found the swinging sites.
The thing I noticed mainly is the age difference. A lot of the men and women on the dating sites, or the ones I use, are a little older. And when your single I guess that is quite a big thing. I'm not saying they are desperate. But I'm thinking that maybe they feel at their age, when possibly all their friends are settled with families, anything is worth a shot.
Whereas somewhere like here, most are commited in a relationship or know themselves enough to know they arnt desperate to be in a relationship.
This si just my point of view, I mean no offence. And as mentioned in another post, I am a little tipsy, so I may well come back and clarify some points when I can write sensibly!!

interesting but i had 15 replies only one lady older at 44, about 6 same age as me 38 rest were 27+ and one was 19
It is a little unfortunate, and in my opinion underhand, but a few sites operate systems that entice people to join.
Once they have paid some money then interest drops off, until such times as the subscription runs out, then, low and behold lots of interest commences again.
In some cases, a percentage of the site population will in fact be bogus and would probably be centrally controlled.
I do hope that this is not the situation with you and that you find lots of fun.

Another thing to beware of is recurring charges 
I was a member one one of them there dating sites, bought my 6 months' subscription but lost interest after about 3 months and stopped even looking 
Then my subscription lapsed and they automatically charged me for another 6 months :shock:
:evil: The worst thing was, I'd used a friend's credit card to join, so it was actually them that got charged 
Luckily they knew I hadn't done it on purpose, and after a very snotty email from me the site have agreed to refund the money. Could have caused a lot of problems though (and I'm out of pocket until they do refund it because obviously I paid my friend the money back)

I have fallen foul to this but sussed it out pretty quickly as all the interest was from people who were too good to be true and their online names seemed to be computer generated rather than the normal "hot4sex07" type names you'd normally get. Luckily they only got 1 months money out of me. I actually started replying and saying 'you don't exist' etc and surprise surprise my mail dried up!

It does seem that women have the upper hand up here in terms of pms where it does seem the other way round on dating sites. The quality of the pms and meets however are really the issue as many pms to women on here are really crass.
I did try one dating site and like Angel ended up paying after I cancelled the account !! It was a waste of time as far as meeting anyone but I didnt really give it a chance I suppose and now I am very glad I didnt else I wouldnt have met Martell here

This maybe a bit controversial but maybe men have more luck/choice on vanilla dating sites because women (huge generalisation coming up so please don't all shout at me at once) prefer sex along with love and relationships and men prefer it to be without strings - hence the reason why there are so many men on here, and why women members can be far more choosy.

As I said 'this is my opinion.' I dont mean to offend with my opinion. But if you dont like it I guess you will be offended!!! Sods law I'm afraid.
And I didnt say old single people are desperate. Christ I'm 28 and single, that would be case of pot, kettle, black!!!!
People join didfferent sites for different reasons. I enjoy being here because I find people more upfrint then they were on the dating sites.
And as for the relationship thing. Yes it is a case of damned what ever you say. Me personally. I would love to meet someone on here who accepts me for being bi-sexual, and would let me play outside of the relationship. As I would them. But am I holding my breath? No, because that would be pointless!!!

I agree RedAngel, I'd like a relationship too, but have yet to find a guy who has been able to accept my sexual wants. On vanilla sites I find guys who can't accept that side of me, and on here guys who'd love that part of me, but who aren't after a relationship. Woe is me!!!

AAlisha and Red Angel You'll find what you are looking for when you stop looking. It has always happened to me whenI was relaxed and happy with myself and its not such a silly statement as it sounds - enjoy life to the full - there are plenty of men on here looking for relationships as well as having fun on the way

I don't want a traditional relationship so a vanilla dating site would be useless, and you get shot down in flames here if you say you're after anything other than a one off shag (well, not so much in the forum, but in the chatrooms you get accused of being frigid and a tease )
The one plus a vanilla dating site might have (I don't know I've not tried one) is you'd get less married people pretending to be single, maybe?

I think the ratio's of men and women wanting dates is proportional. . . personally i think that people are a bit less reluctant to state what they really want (sexually)out of a relationship on dating sites, everyone wants great sex (i hope lol) but their not going to put it at the top of their list on a dating site fearing they may put off potential partners! where as on a site like swingers heaven people are more open about their sexual desires but not to the possibilities of a relationship developing as a result of fulfilling them
