since the signpost pics have been on sh we have had several enquiries about web camming, well we are no experts on this only having dabbled on the odd occasion, it was fun but left questions needing answers, like apart from seeing the other persons cam , something all the guys seem reluctant to show , wusssssses, how do you know the person on the other end is of age?
is it a guy or girl, i mean just cos their pic is up thats hardly a guarantee is it
any other thoughts on web cams would be appreciated.
is it just harmless exhibitionist fun or what?
are there rules? whats the ettiquette.
love ya all

i have got 1 somewhere.....its about 5 years old but have used it on occasion...that was with some 1 i knew......
i cant see the point in some 1 asking to see you on cam and not recipricate ........its about seeing each other (i think)....ive never put the cam on for about a year but i found it good fun when your sharing the "camming" lol
i agree with you, it has to be with some one on the other end... there are too many blokes saying they are girls to be able to trust a person without a cam... sorry chaps..
I've had my cam for a few years and use it a bit. Started camming about four years ago with a woman from America, and she ended up coming over to Glasgow, and I went over there. We're still in contact, but haven't seen each other in person for a couple of years. She's a really great person and we had lots of fun together, and would never have met if it wasn't for having a cam.
Also meant that when she did come over, I knew what she looked like. I knew it wasn't going to be come old guy who'd been pretending to be a woman.
Don't know whether anyones interested but they have webcams in Aldi this week for £10. USB powered, built in microphone...pretty good for a tenner.

I have found it fun, but will only show more than my face if the other party has their cam on too.
Otherwise there are a large bulk of nutters out there... must be careful!
As a bloke who would like to cam I cannot understand why one would not make it 2 way. I might be a tad reluctant at first in case i hooked up with one of my ex patients ( I really am a doctor) but once the niceties of discretion have been met I would have thought that the 2 way experience was a must
i have cammed often i used to cam in an open room in another chat program now due to lack of light where i sit....i only cam with peeps i know.

Agree with everything on here.........
We used to cam regularly up until about 6 months ago, but stopped when went all PC. The irony is we used to use a reasonably priced cam that gave pretty good quality, but have now got software for turning our camcorder into a webcam with really good quality, but don't bother any more.
DO be careful who you cam with unless you fancy the "lets entertain the chatroom" approach which can be good fun and a turn on. And yes it is a foregone conclusion that if doing the chatroom approach someone could be recording you.
I use my cam a lot.
Noooo - not for cyber - I just like to talk to people face to face.
MSN video conversation is excellent - video streaming is great and the voice quality almost as good as the phone.
As I don't get out to munches much - I find it a great way to get to know people.

Occasionally go on cam and have fun, think its a good way to have fun - and if you are alone its better to have moving live stimulation!!
Also a good check to make sure people are genuine before you meet them!
As other people have already said, you get what you pay for with webcams. Shelling out £10 is a good way to start I guess, but be prepared to pay more for a better quality one if you like it. You'll get improved picture quality, better software (for adjusting the picture) and the ability to send smoother (faster) video at a higher resolution.
I'm absolutely with Judy that a zoom option is a good one to have (are you getting my best side Mister DeMille?). I prefer cams that don't have microphones built in as I like separate complete control over sound and vision.
Incidentally, Logitech have recently released one that has software called Video Effects....it puts an animated cartoon face on instead of your own if you so desire, so you can appear as a Shark (very appropriate in some situations!), donkey (lol) or other creatures. You can also superimpose cartoon additions to your face (like a hat, sunglasses or an anonymous black strip over the eyes/nose). All this is done by the face-tracking software that moves the camera to follow you around.....haven't yet worked out whether you can train the cam to follow other parts of your body instead!
It's not cheap (around £99 retail but you can find it cheaper online). If you are interested in this, be careful where you order from - I found out that places like PC World are stocking older versions that look exactly the same but don't come with the cartoon software and aren't compatible with it.
