I would go for the exact same as you pk- photos all the way- I have thousands in boxes, and scattered about everywhere, they are the one thing I would love to have the time to sort through and store online and in fireproof boxes!
I'm guessing it would be too late by the time I ever actually get round to it!
If we're not talking people and pets then the only things would be photos and lap top, and maybe all the hoards of cards and letters and notes that I save up from people, other than that, nothing else that can't be replaced.
When I lived with my ex, there was a fire in the flat next door to us, which when I realised, the first thing I did was run and move the fish tank and hamster cage to a different room!
The first thing my ex did was move the telly into the furthest away room!
The last thing we BOTH did was waken up our flat mate to tell him to get out! oops! lol
hmmmm... I just read that jeana would save her vibrators- I may consider that too, seeing as they are kept in a handy suitcase under the bed, although imagine people thinking we were ok for clothes, only to find out we still needed hand outs cos the bag was packed full of toys!

Id save nothing.
The only thing that you cannot replace is yourself.
Get out before it takes hold

Tyracer, we know everyone should and would save themselves, I don't think many people would save anything other than themselves and family, but this thread is just a bit of fun so you can find out the things people value other than the really important things like your family/friends/pets etc
........................just for fun wink
thank you..well said xx

Right if you're getting one so am I!
I even have the very first valentines card I ever got- it was from a boy called johan and I got it in p1- unfortunately he also gave all the girls one- it was hand made and i remember thinking how good he was at drawing!
I'm terrible for keeping hold of anything of even the slightest significance, cinema ticket stubs, train tickets, flight tickets, match stick boxes from restaurants, silly notes, etc etc- I dread ever moving house with all the junk I collect!!!
oi ........its 3 things!..this rate the boxes will have to be huge!!

well I'm sure we'll get a deal for getting two of them.....lol
just glad to see that someone keeps all the stuff I do.....biggrin
My photos
My personal box - a box of trinkets n letters I've gathered and kept since I was a kid, not a lot, but all priceless!
My kids 'First' boxes - Since they were born I've kept all their first stuff, papers on the day they were born, first shoes, first dresses, first swimsuits, first drawings and on and on and on lol
:inlove:
And if I can't get to any of that cos it's all in the loft - then my rice cooker, my lappy and a set of clothes to wear confused

If they're that important you should think about scanning them all and saving them to a DVD which is kept elsewhere, the originals may be lost but the image can still be reprinted or viewed on screen

yes that probably is true......unfortunately I don't have a scanner....or the time for that matter....
therefore to me the fire proof box is the best option... smile

Just a post from someone who has experienced a fire and had to run from you'll forgive me for the bluntness of the reply.
These three things are what i would save without a doubt in my mind.
The framed drawing that my older brother gave my dad of my dear departed dog. I had her my whole life so despite the fact shes been gone nearly six years that picture still means the world to me.
I would grab my old training hockey stick. It was the first hockey stick i ever brought and played with so it obviously has sentimental value to me, even if it did tear my hands up the last time i used it because the edges were so rough.
I would also grab my full length ice hockey stick, shes the one that won me the most games and the one i scored the most goals with. Shes beautiful and is probably the most important object i own.
I would save Mrs Kiss, our cat and our two rats. But if we were talking about physical belongings, I would save:
A small bronze statue that was given to me by an Indian sculptor. We sat for hours just sitting under a tree and chatting at an arts festival while he was making the statue, I was rather blown away when he offered it to me as a present at the end of the week.
When my Grandfather passed away he left me his medals. He was in the Royal Navy during and after WWII. When he made his Will he asked me what I wanted, I asked for one medal. But it turned out that he wrote in his Will that because I was so unselfish and that's all I asked for, he left me all of them. I was very touched to say the least.
I have all the music I've ever written backed up onto CD's and stored away. I would definitely save them if I could!
ummmm would save pics, kids "first" boxes and my jewelery box, every thing else could probably be replaced.
my budgie and my 2 kittens

oh i didnt actually read the thread ffs lol
ok then
my books
my laptop
my cd's
my dvd collection
my 42" Plasma TV
my Skyplus box.
My file with all the insurance and other important documents in it.
My handbag.
My overnight bag, which is always packed for when we stay out.
