What a stupid minge! (or is he a cunt, or indeed a spoffle?)

It interests me why the word cunt is still so , there are some (many?) on here that are happy to use the full range of expressive verbs, but then shy away from one or two.
Why is this? Why is it ok to be euphemistic (shaven haven), but not to say minge or cunt? I appreciate that minge carries with it a sense of dirtiness that shaven haven doesn’t, but still, it’s just a word isn’t it? I'm not looking to get burned here, interested in real reasons why we have not dropped this .
PS Don’t you just love trying to get the word ‘spoffle’ into conversations?
Marmalaid you cunt...............fuck off!

Is "I just don't like the word." enough to make it ? I had a girlfriend who cringed when I used the word 'gotten' e.g. "you've gotten me wet!", I used it first in Scrabble, and she challenged it, she would have used the word 'got' instead which would have been incorrect although oft used.
So, why is it still around here?

Have been known to use cunt but only during sex cos I have a problem saying pussy rolleyes

Im shocked and disgusted with you Marmalaid!!! I come in here to talk about sex, anal, bj's etc, and YOU end up talking about flamming SCRABBLE!!!!!
You spoffle! (sorry i cant use THAT word either unless im beinig the whore in the bedroom and highly aroused!)

I don't know whether I'd consider 'cunt' a word but it's certainly a word that many people don't like to say or hear. I'm not a prude in any way and wouldn't presume to tell people the words they should use in here.
Good topic by the way biggrin
Oh, and nice bum Chris wink

I never use the word "twat", just don't like it. I would never refer to somone as a cunt, but I'm quite happy using it to refer to the real thing. I think its insulting to women to use it as an insult for a person, although I have no problem referring to someone as a prick, arse, dickhead etc. dunno
Now I wonder when I'll next encounter a real cunt... :P hump 69position biggrin
got to say i dont like the word cunt at all unless its used in the bedroom but my ex was another who detested the word
i personally hate the word bastard
think we all have certain words we dislike but it does seem to be the women who dont like the word cunt confused

‘spoffle’

Well I didn't read all 4 pages of the thread, but I still don't know what it means, one that's passed me by. Elucidate svp.
Think I mentioned my dislike of the word minge earlier . I dont know why , and id love to hear from anyone who has a clue of the root and origin of the word as that would be interesting . Its just the sound and inflection of it , it does seem to suggest something unpleasant . Whereas cunt used in its descriptive literal sense can be quite sexy in a tacky kind of way . Also its something Silky and I have discussed before , the use of swearing in the UK is unique in that even the most offensive of swear words can be used by men especially with the right context as a term of endearment , for example if you frequent the building sites of this fair city you will often hear banter maybe after a particularly corny old joke the response from quite close friends might be " Youre such a cunt Dave" , meant obviously in a comic an affectionate way . Or " you coming up the pub ya wanker ?" will be heard at clockin off time .
However the chances of two brickies playing football shouting " Over ere on me head Dave yer minge" is very slim indeed .
So should we pronounce minger with a hard or a soft g?!
And apologies to all those who have to suffer me, I was raised by a lorry driver!

Joking aside.
It's such an outstanding term of abuse as it conjures up an image that is just so low.
Calling someone say a dickhead is like saying they're daft, stupid, idiotic.
Calling someone a cunt is like saying they're a lowest of the low lowlife, it's about as bad as it gets. I suppose sociologists would say that is inheritantly sexist as it refers to womens genetalia as opposed to mens' in the word dickhead, knobhead etc or a unisex word: arsehole. Somewhere in there there's an argument for women to "reclaim" the word, dunno ask Germaine Greer.
Think it depends on the emphasis,I can call a mate a "daft cunt" and it's not meant or received as an the other hand I got a text from the ex once ,simply said "ignorant cunt!".Think she MEANT that one.

Ohhh yes! wink
I'm afraid I am one of those who would use cunt or twat as an insult rather than a term for the vagina. For that I would generally use 'pussy' but it is a matter of preference.
Of course spoffle may become increasingly part of my vocabulary now......... lol
Really cringe when i hear people say minge, cunt and twat when describing the female genitals. Another one i dislike is fanny mad :x :x ooh , that was so difficult even to write it down.
Now the word spoffle has a certain ring to it, kinda like it.

The spoffle theory only works until the word starts to get used in other contexts . As soon as you start to hear people calling Jeffrey Archer a bit of a spoffle it will become as offensive as all the others :-)
Perhaps as one of the older generation on this Forum, I have a different viewpoint.
I was always told that a lady never swears unless IT slipped out.

While I've always had a soft spot for women who swear like troupers, using the word cunt on its own has never appealed to me as its connotation is so bad and abusive.
However "daft cunt" amongst bloke is almost a term of endearment.
So we come to "front-bottom". We use that term with our young daughter (tho use technically correct terms when dealing with specific bits & bobs), some friends use vagina as a generic term however that's just as befuddled.) I dislike it intensely however it serves a purpose.
Do the better travelled members here know of any culture where there is a socially acceptable term for the front-bottom?
arky of Sparky.
I'm a mere male, but I have heard that some women are trying to make the word "cunt" more acceptable by preferring it to more coy words like "pussy" or "vagina", partly in the hope that it becomes less used as a term of abuse. Sounds like a good idea to me. Anyone seen "The Vagina Monologues"?
Mike.
You mean Jeffrey Archer isn't the spoffle of all spoffles in his spoffle-like way?
OMG, I am so sorry. I am the one who said 'shaven haven' and started this whole thing off. Chris, just you wait, me, you Caz & Randy will have a big Scrabble arguement in a couple of weeks, I promise.
BTW, I detest "gotten" and slap him every time he says it.
"gotten" was actually an older form in English English, and appears in the King James version of the Bible (1662).
Mike.
I've just read the book about the Vagina Monologues and they are attempting to 'reclaim' the word Cunt but I'm not sure how well it will work really. Mind you I reckon the stage performance must be a damn sight better than the book, which I found quite boring.
I found an old thread on the topic of the Vagina Monologues....

True, but they did tend to make English up as they went along in those days Mike! lol
