I saw Queen back in 86, and hubby has been a fan since 73/74 when he first saw them backing mott-the-hoople.
Freddy was a great front man so I did have reservations on how they were going to pull this off.
All I can say is in no way was Paul Rogers trying to be Freddy. Paul Rogers in great live, I have never rated him on in the studios.
There was one song Paul Rogers sung that I thought he didn’t really pull it off That was “the show must go on” but other than that the rest was good.
What a lot of people seem to forget is Queen wasn’t just Freddy, Brain May and Roger Taylor are brilliant musicians and I was gobsmacked at their performances last night outstanding. Freddy was there last night he was mentioned a lot he haven’t been forgotten. When Brian may sung “Love of my life” and dedicated it to Freddy you seemed to feel him there beside you.
So I would say a great concert!
Have you seen the new line up?
Even if you haven’t, what are you views?
Should the music carry on?
Sorry minx I do not agree. We both love Queen, but Queen WAS Freddie. Without him it's like steak but without the chips. lol
I also love Paul Rogers as one of my favorite bands was Bad Company but....I just would not go and pay money to see Queen without Freddie. Somehow it just does not seem right. oh btw I was also there in 86 at Wembley.
The other members of Queen whilst good at what they do,they would never have been as big without the imput of Freedie. A talent that will be missed even in a hundred years from now.
Queen was more than just freddie. I might be wrong but John Deacon isn't touring either. So you have half the group raking over the coals.
It's a bit like McCartney and Starr claiming to be the Beatles sad
Still if they were good live they were good live lol

But we all know the beatles were about two people, the other two could have been anybody.
It is always nice to see the Queen can still get out and about.

I think you are very very wrong.
George Harison was a great guitarist and a fine vocalist. The Beatles were a unit just as Queen were.

Sorry have to diagree, the music wouldnt have been the same without Brian may and Roger taylor.
As we know May has a distinct sound that could not be copied by anyone, ok freddy could still have sung his songs but isnt the music a great part of how a song sounds?
Pay your money it is worth it, and the stage lightning was awesome.
The 86 concert was the best concert I have been to, I have been to a few great concerts, but last night I would say I was impressed and would rank it amonst the next best I have seen along with Robbie at knebworth and Stringstean at wembley.

Thats fine keeno...we can agree to disagree.
i was not to sure how to react when i heard paul rogers was going to do lead vocals for queen. but i'm a queen tart biggrin i enjoy hearing a queen song whether its the real deal or a cover. for me queen was my sort of band when i was growing up. when freddie died, for me personally queen were over and still are. confined to hearing them on the cd when i chose to play it or on radio or t.v. people still want to hear them live, which to me was what they did best. but to me that is a chapter that is now over. i would never push my views on anybody who still wants to go and see them perform live and i hope they enjoy what they see. also there is always someone discovering them for the first time, who might feel the same way i did when i first heard them. my god i still get the same chill when i hear the intro to bohemian rhapsody as when i first heard it. as i said its my personal choice but i wish them all the success in the world.
I haven't seen the Q+PR (Queen + Paul Rodgers) line-up. I doubt they would be able to surpass the 3 times I saw Queen with Freddie. Their last ever show at Knebworth in 1986 is still one of the best I've ever seen. I don't mind Brian and Roger touring and playing Queen's music, but I think they should have started again with Paul Rodgers under a new name.
Similarly, Axl Rose should rename his band rather than go out under the Guns N Roses banner.
We all know why they are doing that, though. Bums on seats, pure and simple. GNR will sell more tickets thatn Axl's All-Stars. Q+PR will sell more tickets than The May, Taylor & Rodgers Band.

I agree, and at her age too! Not at all a monarchist but she's good for tourism.

I agree - there was a chemistry there. The sum total was more than the sum of the parts.

I think the same is true of Queen.
Perhaps they could tour under the name Queenlite or 1calQueen.
They are only 50% of what made the band great.

I loved Queen with Freddy and I loved Paul Rodgers no matter who he was with. I havent seen Queen since Freddy departed and I doubt I will.
I cant see how they can justify charging £50 a ticket

You should have seen the prices for the Led Zep concert. I was going to go to 500 quid, but on E Bay they were selling for over double that.
Yes agreed but 50 quid seems less than the going rate nowadays for tickets.

I love rock bands and live music but I refuse to pay what they ask for tickets these days its just extortion!
Im not tight you understand,..... well not as far as money is concerned.
Im just careful!
And tight. lol   xx
Sorry, but Queen isn't Queen without Freddy! IMHO

They were terminally tedious 20 years ago so i doubt they've improved with age, May's mullet mop certainly hasn't

Minxy sense does not come into it when the greatest rock band ever, decide to do a one off concert after nearly 30 years.
It is a kind of thing that comes around once in a lifetime. Led Zep were and still are the greatest band ever, and for anyone that does not agree, how about 355 million album sales, which is still the most for any rock band.
500 quid is common sense Minxy, so cannot see how you would say it is 1-1??
