Another job which would interest me would be forensic artist,.........
Venusxxx

I have worked in the art in medicine dept for a university. It is rather gory and they prefer you to have some kind of medical qualification cos it's easier to teach a scientist to draw than an artist to do full anatomy or something like that anyway.......
I really enjoyed it and found it very interesting. No two days were the same and I kind of liked that, makes it exciting and stimulating.

Which is something I am very aware a person like me needs. Any hint of a repetitive routine and the whole shithouse goes up in flames! I am possibly the worse person I know for maintaining some kind of organisation in a household for example. It sends me stir crazy......
Not that anyone here would have noticed! redface
Venusxxx
:therethere:
I kind of thrive on routine right now. Anything random sends me off on one and it really effects the way I feel and approach things. I think thats why I thrive in a school environment, it is rigid enough in it's timetable to keep me feeling secure, but varied enough to stimulate my interest.
I could not do an office or shop job permanetly as it would drive me mad sat in the same place day in day out doing the same thing. All respect for the people who can do that, it really gets to me. HAve you found that too Venus?
Although I'm a swine, if someone tells me I have to stay in the same place all day I would go stir crazy. If I choose to stya in the smae place for hours on end then I seem happy enough to do it. Maybe I'm just an awkward sod. dunno
I have worked in both an office and behind a till, and yes, it drove me nuts (yes, big respect for those it suits). Left to my own devices though, I very easily fall into a unmotivated routine.....I think it`s called a coma wink . That`s why it`s important for me to have an outside responsibility which stimulates and tests me in a variety of ways.
Although it can feel difficult at the time, I always thrive best if the bar is raised to a point which will make me jump! People notice it too, because I will become much more animated overall. smile
Venusxxx
Yes I have similar traits too.
Left to my own devices and I am the most unmotivated moron with the concentration of a goldfish, push me to my limits and I snap and breaks into pieces. I like a challenge, but nothing impossible. I tend to like something I can get my teeth into that will stretch and pull my current train of thinking, maybe give me a new unexplored avenue to persue, see if it changes my veiws on things. I like having my veiws changed through new discussion, reading, evidence or experiences. It makes me feel as if I am developing myself.
And still massive respect for the till people and office lot. I have tried both and hated them. Hairdressing was another thing I really didn't enjoy doing, well the assistany bit anyway. Cleaning up after everyone, having to wash old ladies scabby scalps and smile sweetly as they tell you for the 20th time about their hip operation and try to hitch up their teflon coated clothing to provide evidence of scarring. rolleyes Ahhh, another set of reasons why I need to pass my degree and get a job.
You know its funny , i do believe SH has more people studying for a degree than any Forum ive ever posted on . Not a piss take ( I have to say that cos its me and that what everyone expects) just something i noticed , wonder if it says something about a liberalism/intelligence equation ?
I think that link has been brought up a while ago, about the lib and the intelligence thing.
Might be worth doing a search on it, bet there are some changes since the last postings on it. I will be glad when my degree is over. I am fed up of being a student.

The relationship between that and thinking outside of the box? I`ve considered the same also, but tenatively, because I`m wary of coming across as a intellectual/class snob.
(she says with her lone GCSE and DSS benefits...... lol )
It`s interesting to note that there isa large number of people here who are within the 30-35 k wage bracket, something which is difficult to achieve without the right level of education.

They said I would be a great disapointment to my mum (who was a teacher at the same school I went to)
the most oft comment at school and in reports (before they were no longer allowed to be honest about abilities and have to say something positive that doesnt sound like it was a put down of previous achievements) (1) was "is bright, but doesnt apply himself"
I didnt disapoint my mum... I made a good living out of IT, then get married to the wrong lass and it went down hill there after... my mum is still rpud of me even tho I live on IS, my lad is a nutter, and she knows I swing and am into BDSM... how cool is that biggrin
MUMS they are the best :D
I just regret that my dad didnt get to see my photography, it was his demise that gave me the opertunity to start to get into it properly... so one day I will make it pay for him, however I know he would be proud that I do what I love for loves sake... after all reverends (cofe) have the lowest pay scale in the world, they do it for the love of god.. not the cash!
(1) any teacher in high school whos had to word a report knows exactly what I mean... if you say "is doing so much better than last year" is not allowed cos it was a put down on last year... "needs to" not allowed cos no kid needs to cos they is all equal and wonderfull... "has improved" not allowed cos improvement may mean that others are no longer as good. Cynical... me... to right lol :lol: :lol: :lol:

Careers Twat (CT); good morning have a seat. So what career are you thinking of following?
Me: I am going to go to college and do Alevels in Art, Dt and Chemistry, then I am going to either do and art degree and a pgce or an education degree and become a primary school teacher.

My chosen profession should be as an............... Undertaker! :shock: confused
CT: Ooooohhh, How wonderful. An undertaker! (as he clasps his hands together in a kind of style elated way. I looked at him as if he had just gone insane)
He then tried persueding me not to do teaching and become a florist instead! rolleyes Think there must have been a shortage cos he tried persueding several of us to become undertakers or florists. Unless he had an obsession with burials etc... Might account for the hideous sucking noise and died black hair. :shock:

Wonderful post, Gem, sorry I edited a bit. When you graduate this summer you should send him a wreath - the final death of his dreams for you :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:
Good luck,
Mike.

S'half of what I try to get across to my boy.
Multitude of jobs have passed my way but still not settled on something that keeps me buzzin.
Stopped worrying about 'oh god is this what I am going to be doing forever' cos things change and I know I'll do my 'thing' when the time comes.
Happy happy here
(talk to me after his options interview Thursday!!)

(Nice post Jon)
Oh dear! I was at school before they did that!
But I did take a couple of aptitude tests in my twenty-somethings when the firm I was with got a computer. I was twice told I was totally unsuitable, so now I teach computing for a living.
WW
Oh, the Jungian thing... here's what "they" say about me:

Famous ENTPs
Alexander the Great
Sir Walter Raleigh
Thomas Edison
Lewis Carrol
Theodore Roosevelt
John Candy
Weird Al Yankovick
Alfred Hitchcock
Tom Hanks
Céline Dion
Matthew Perry
Alexander the Great and Sir Walter Raleigh took Jungian typology tests???
(Bonus point for anyone who spotted me putting this in the wrong thread redface )
I was sent to one of those career assessment places by desparate parents looking for something for their youngest child to do. Pre-computers, but clearly however they worked it out I blew up the system.
Report came back, err, well, err, we don't actually know what he might do, err, try "casual commercial", which means, do anything till something sticks, I'm still looking!
Possible Career Paths for the ESTP:
* Sales Representatives
* Marketing Personnel
* Police / Detective Work
* Paramedic / Emergency Medical Technician
* PC Technicians or Network Cablers
* Computer Technical Support
* Entrepreneurs
Hmm, and the description of what I am like was pretty acurate but the jobs they have given me really don't appeal. confused Maybe cos I have had my mind made up for so long now and I'm following it. So close to completion so I'm not giving up now. smile

That`s something else which annoys the snot out of me to an extent. Impossible to second guess the exact personality type of historical characters, and including an Astrology slant on some of the typology sites also helps to invalidate the test (IMO)
It helps to put the test into the same catagory as `what type of dog are you` tests when people see that.
However, I do think it is possible to theorise personality types for well developedfictional characters, that`s always fun. In fact Mars has been wanting to share my interest for some time, but was becoming quite baffled with it all, until I started to equate personality types with Star Trek races, then he had an Eureka moment! rotflmao
