I couldn't have put it better myself Phil
I work hard at (in?) my job and I always adopt a professional approach. I don't have letters after my name (well maybe TWAT sometimes :giggle: ) and I don't have a University qualification-does that make me less desirable to swing with ? Maybe to some people, but I don't see that as my loss ;)
It's a sort of classism (is that a word?) as far as I am concerned and while people are of course allowed to have these preferences, it's one that makes me skip along to the next profile/advert in the list ;)

Hear hear Minxy....and WOW, what a stunning avatar! sillyhwoar:
Thank you to everyone for your input in this subject and from the people I have met from this site and my personal experience I have come to a conclusion, which I will keep to myself. However, I will say this much. I do class myself as a professional in my field of work but will not write this within my profile as I love to be around every day, fun loving folk that know that and take others for what they are and not what they have. Real people!

What particularly amuses me is the people here who describe themselves as "professional" and can't even spell the word! lol

Was about to make the very same comment Mike. The number of times I have seen it spelt "proffesional or proffessional" is alarming. I thought a professional would at least be able to spell it :bounce:
We as a couple would like to make it known that from this day forth, we ONLY swing with PROFFESIONALS lol
I've seen ads that state "no mechanics or similar dirty fingernail profesions"
Who do they take their posh fekin cars to when they go tits up on the side of the country lane to their posh weekend residence confused:
Good for you.
Pick a side and stick to it.
Your actions in life make you who you are!
I just thought "professional" here equals not on the dole lol
Tony wink
.................off to change profile........... redface
Ageing fat ugly couple desparate for a shag ..............answers to fido on a weekend...... :P
In defence of the professional (I am a surgeon) it is not always snobbery although some may be snobs, I do use it to try and click with people I would be comfortable with in a social setting. Many of my best friends are not in the same "profession" and indeed range from farmers to a smelter worker. We are all people underneath especially when naked! Take people how you find them rather than by a label

So a profffessionall couple = Bodie and Doyle  That's not fair what happens to Starsky and HUtch or Regan and Carter?
Would any of the 'professionals' or 'proffesionals', care to decide which is the correct spelling?
Maybe they are rather clumsily trying to say that if their invites clashed they would probably choose the Deal or no deal after show orgy rather than the Jeremy Kyle one?

I think someone has already said it, but it is my absolute pet hate when I see this and it's spelt wrong.
I tend to think that anyone who actually writes it, just does it to make themselves look better, their job is probably run of the mill 9-5, bog standard office job, but they think that by putting 'professional' it perhaps adds a certain aspect of class?
I suppose Den and I could be classed as professionals as we're members of a professional body, but it would be cringeworthy to ever have that on our profile, and it is one of those 'no-no's', an instant turn off if I see it written in someones profile!

That said.....
I'd rather see that than "Amateur"
Can I be "practicing"? :rascal:
I would feel like a total numptie if I ever described myself as a "professional" It always brings to mind Bodie & Doyle! (showing my age)

I ran a search with the word professional under the adverts. There are many many ads using this word.
So I think it is used as a generic term, which is largely self imposed.
Also it may be that some people confuse professional with 'clinical'. Which denotes that someone is carrying out a function in a technical way but devoid of involvement. This being a way to say, we won't get in your hair, or mess up your home.
Also it suggests that some people may be spectating whilst carrying out their duties, in a dual role. Is there a 'kinky' term for such performers and operators.
Is this possibly where the term 'dual core'comes from?
they don't mean me, thats for... nope!
lp
I had to write an 5000 word essay on *Professional* and *Professionalism* once... bluddy nightmare! confused :?
No one seems to have mentioned the "oldest profession"
