I laughed when my sister made friends with some southerners on hol once, and they came up here for a visit, and told us that their chippies didnt do chips n gravy
I thought it was a joke, as 'up here' gravy is a staple with chips. We soon turned em into chips n gravy fiends tho LOL and they havent looked back since!

Erm, up here, EVERYTHING is a staple with chips lol
gravy and mushy peas .....just a little salt.....mmmmmmmmmmmmm smile
Either - very VERY hot chips with vinegar - must be first - so the salt sticks.
How much salt? Far too much to be healthy. Less is pointless.
Alternatively, similarly hot chips and that fantastic Reggae Reggae sauce the chap from Dragon's Den sells. It is FABULOUS.
Raw onion, Bonedigger? I love it, but have to lock myself up at home for 3 days until I'm fit for polite company again biggrin:D:D:D
A naked croupier ;)
Gravy and vinegar :-)
And perhaps a steak and kidney pie with garden peas ;-)
Too (ahem) tired innocent to attempt multi-quoting.....
No! I'm from North Staffs, so Chips & Gravy were always on tap. After moving down here I had to go cold Turkey! Gravy could not be found anywhere- I think it's the true indicator of the North/ South divide.
A few Notts Munchers will remember me trawling through the streets in the early hours, arms outstretched, chanting "Gravy, Gravy."
I went to recently, to spend a few days with a friend. By day two he was saying "Are you going to eat that every lunchtime?" There was only one answer lol
(People think I went up there for the nookie- don't tell 'em!)

Vinegar, then salt - but I have to really really fancy chips.
its odd because i really dont like salt and vinegar at all........whereas hubby loves to drown his chips in both.
Salad cream loads of it !!!!!!!!!!!
lol
I don't like chips..... sad
I don't even like potato much, the odd jacket tattie now and then but that's it.
We've went out for lunch today and I left the mash and roasties.
I have a friend who has a revolting habit....
Cheesy chips :uhoh: chips with cheese grated on top then melted in microwave and mayo on top..
(where's a puke emoticon when I need one??)
I'm not a great lover of chips and have to really be in the mood for them except when walking past someone who's just coming out of the chippy then I get the urge
I love a couple of fried eggs on top of mine so when you cut into them, all the yolk runs over the chips

Hey! I dont do the old 'salt 'n' vinegar' thing on me chips either, ruins them for me. I do however like to peel the top off of a half decent steak n kidney pie and dip my chips in the pie Oh yeah! Bloody hell it's been years! since I did that.
And there ain't no doubt about it but Drakes fish oil (fish oil fish oil means chippy i think in 'northern' dunno) in Leeds does the best chips in the whole wide world ever and ever infinity biggrin
