i am fascinated by the number of unconscious superstitions people have,i am often challenged about my Christianity by people who have no trouble throwing salt over shoulders, believing in ghosts, horoscopes and pixies for all i know.

That`s cos ghosts and pixies actually exist !! Ya donut rolleyes
We need to have a little talk about Father Christmas petal.:evil2:
We know Father Christmas exists, its been proven!

Thank you tweeky,
Yes what is it, lot of bolony if you ask me. I don't believe in ***********! sorry, don't want to say it (that word)...might bring me bad luck.
I think many originate in observations of repeated things, and a simplistic 'law' has developed around them. Some seem to tie in closely with prime numbers and whole number mathematics. So that people's restless thinking, has created this predictive process. Some are happy some are sad, some full of doom. there was a superstition for just about anything at one time.
but it hasn't left us completely. you only need to see a group of it engineers hanging about a new installation and you will hear them stating superstitions all over again, as they worry about the outcome of their work.
I have been on holiday, and had to cross a railway at least twice a day. For four day, each time I approached the line, the gates came down. What does it mean?

Theres a train coming  But what happens if the gates do not close, is that bad luck?
Only if you've not got your rabbit foot in your pocket. (and your ipod on full blast) lol
I do keep 3 rabbits on my head,
You should be fine then, they'll stamp if there's a train coming. Providing of course that you didn't have a black cat cross your path first and frighten them away. If that did happen you could balance things by quickly seeking out some gypsies and purchasing so ridiculously expensive pegs.
Or just chose another route home.
My rabbits are in an Akubra, and very dead, but eyes do turn to look at me. Is that lucky, or just that I am odd.
Not for the rabbit! lol
I'm only superstitious about the no' 13 as I had a lot of bad luck when I turned 13 and over the course of a few months nearly destroyed my Mum's house ( long story ) of course there is a chance that it was youthful naivety and exuberance that was to blame but that would have meant it was my fault so I'm superstitious about 13 lol
I do like the idea of Karma which is kind of a superstition though I wouldn't say I believe in it as such. Being a bit of an optimist I just kinda hope that statistically speaking I'm due a lottery win on account of I've been a good boy honest innocent
