Expensive mainly :-x
Purely a chance to use the down time to get together with people & play silly beggars.
I do the tree & decorations thing, but that's because I like things that twinkle...the kids (and only the kids) get gifts appropriate to them- not anything that's a supposed "must have."
I appreciate my friends and family on a daily basis- but see christmas as an excuse to gather more of them together...with alcohol and chocolate...

Isn't that what they're for? dunno
Christmas to me is about spending time with my family, my mum has a terminal cancer so we are making sure ever day counts!! last year she was given 12 months and she is still here, so we are very busy making special family memories smile
Christmas is being with those that you love and making sure they know how much you love them smile

12 days off work without having to use any leave and 17 with the leave I have added :thrilled:
bloody busy
being a hairdresser its a manic month trying to fit all my clients in and get everything organised for christmas day i mean how can one day take up so much of the preceding month
i do now take crimbo eve off last year due to a friends wedding and i enjoyed having a nice chilled day before crimbo day so will be doing the same this year and can't wait just hope my plan to have everything done by the 23rd happens otherwise i will be running round like a headless chicken as per
Not nearly as significant to me as the Winter Solstice, 21st December. As, freom that day, the days start getting longer - ok not much but it's a start. Actually I think the days actually get slightly shorter still, but sunset is a little later each day. Something to do with a lag in sunrise and sunset times changing. dunno
Anyway I feel like the days are heasding in the right direction from that point.
An excuse to let go - eat too much, drink too much, and gear yourself up for the NY resolutions to drink less, eat less and do more exercise lol

a celebration of the birth of jesus
well u did ask

But that was back in October....apparently?
Christmas is the one time of the year when everyone seems in a pretty good mood.
I love to give my Grandkids prezzies and Christmas is a special time of the year for kids.
All the build up to it, the carols....superb stuff.
My favorite time over Christmas is Christmas eve. I always have a wander around the shops then. The party spirit is alive and kicking, and everybodys mood is so jovial....then when it is all over people revert back to being miserable gits. lol

I asked my 10 year old daughter what Christmas was all about and heres her comments:-
"Christmas is a time for everyone to go stupid and spend hours in shops spending money on stuff that most people wont use. You spend hours in the supermarket, why are all the shelves empty of food the shops are only shut for a few days and why do the shops have to shut.
And then you have the sales just after Christmas, whats the point in buying presents for people if you are only going to find them reduced 4 days later.
And why does everyone go on about an excuse to get drunk and eat too much and a time for families to get together. Shouldnt you be getting together more with your family throughout the year than just on one day a year."
Dont think I will be getting anything off her for christmas then lol

I wonder if she would still think the same if ya got her nothing to open on Xmas day?
You could say " don't worry I can buy it all in the sales ". Hmmmm a change of attitude might well prevail there. lol
