Venus was complaining about the lack of something deep to get her teeth into so I trawled around and found little link for you all to play with and to discuss if you so wish.
"For many years, people used IQ tests to try and determine someone’s intelligence. However, some researchers believe that IQ tests do not take into account the fact that different people might think in different ways, and have different strengths and weaknesses.
Most people would agree that Mozart was a genius - but Mozart would probably have struggled with Einstein’s theories just like the rest of us. This doesn’t mean that one man was more clever than the other – they just thought in very different ways.
Many psychologists now believe that what we call intelligence can be subdivided into different categories, all of which can all be measured independently. Different kinds of thinking are needed to solve different problems."

(I am a Linguistic and Spatial thinker by the way)
So to expand on this theory, do you think the kind of thinker you are effects your behaviour and what kind of strategies work for your day to day life going smoothly?
kiss
Gem. x
Talking of IQ, anybody here a member of MENSA,
I think the only clever member of MENSA was whoever thought of charging $whatever for a certificate to say you are clever........
sorry littlegem, didnt mean to try and derail your topic.....just ignore me..........!!
I'm a linguistic thinker apparently!
Tend to think in words, and like to use language to express complex ideas.
Are sensitive to the sounds and rhythms of words as well as their meanings.

I'm with you blue on this one confused: :?: :?: lol
ok, i got 3 different types after the quiz;
spatial
logical mathematical
interpersonal
Gawd knows how! IQ tests are stupid though - they're merely a test of how good you are at doing IQ tests. Having done many IQ tests for work purposes (military, civil service and others) I know I am very good at doing the tests. Doesn't mean I'm clever though. Yes, I could join MENSA, but frankly, why would I want to? I have a Masters degree from a good university, so why would I want to prove my intelligence otherwise? And, in fact, having worked in my industry for the past 15 years, even the degree is irrelevant! Attittude in a job is much more important.
You are an Interpersonal Thinker
Interpersonal thinker
* Like to think about other people, and try to understand them

And I'm studying psychology. How does it know???? confused rolleyes lol
Slightly on-topic......
I had some excellent advanced slaes training about a year or so back, and they taught us that there are 3 types of 'sensory channels' that people relate to when going through the buying process.......
The 3 channels all relate to the way in which information is stored and remembered....
Visual - Customers who link information they receive to images and what they have seen or can imagine in their mind
Auditory - Customers who listen to information and remember what was said
Kinaesthetic- People who have to 'feel' a product, and buy depending on what emotions it may evoke...
Just thought that this may be of interest, it is great once you start understanding how it is possible to relate more closely with people once you are able to ascertain their preferred sensory channel...... It was difficult to talk to anyone for weeks afterwards without trying to weigh them up!!!!
I think its amazing the depth of the mind once you start scratching the surface of this sort of stuff.....
Intrapersonal thinkers:
Spend a lot of time thinking about and trying to understand themselves
Reflect on their thoughts and moods, and work to improve them
You understand how your behaviour affects your relationships with others
Like intrapersonal thinkers, Leonardo worked hard to improve all aspects of himself. Other Intrapersonal thinkers include
Sigmund Freud, Gandhi, Grahame Greene
Careers which suit Intrapersonal Thinkers include
Psychologist, Teacher, Pilot, Child care worker, Explorer, Drama therapist

No shit?! :lol2:
Venusxxx

Think in movements.
Like to use their bodies in skilful and expressive ways
Have an aptitude for working with your hands
Leonardo spent much of his life studying the human body to find our how it moved Other Kinaesthetic Thinkers include
Houdini, Rudolph Nureyev, David Beckham
Careers which suit Kinaesthetic Thinkers include
Sportsperson, Craftsperson, Surgeon, Actor, Dancer, Coach, Physiotherapist
You are a Naturalist Thinker
Naturalist Thinkers:
Like to understand the natural world, and the living beings that inhabit it
have an aptitude for communicating with animals
You try to understand patterns of life and natural forces
I always thought I used my body in a skilful way and my hands  :P
Existential thinkers:
* Like to spend time thinking about philosophical issues such as "What is the meaning of life?"
* Try to see beyond the 'here and now', and understand deeper meanings
* consider moral and ethical implications of problems as well as practical solutions
Other Existential Thinkers include
The Buddha, Gandhi, Plato, Socrates, Martin Luther King

Erm, slagging IQ tests was not the aim of this thread.
Anyway, how do you cope in the day to day running of your life and do you think that your thinking type is a key in the way you do particular things?
For example remembering a shopping list?
Do you see the shop and mentally pick things of the self in your head or do you make a list???
See where I'm going with this?

Just for the record!!! Nice link little gem - thanks, I think i'll be taking a look over this in the next few days.....
Hey bluexxx, im the same as you, hope theres no correlation between females and that type of thinking, my macho ego probably couldn't cope!!!
Erm, well my result was an interpersonal thinker, which is strange, as I have been a majority of the examples under the linguistic thinker category. dunno
Mike.

I think the mathematical thinker was spot on for me, shopping is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond me lol

Yeah, I'm a lot like that rolleyes . Tonight I thought, being scientifically minded like I am, that I would try an experiment to see if revels float in Baileys Irish Cream.... but they didn't, they all sank so I had to fish them out and they went all soggy and kinda melted...
Damn my scientific brain blink
You are an Interpersonal Thinker
Think this is the most common one confused

Probably is on here cos we're all on a forum where you just get booted if you don't have good interpersonal skills lol . On here, you would come across as being a right dick if you didn't have good people skills.
Does that make sense, I drank the Baileys after fishing out the revels and I feel pissed now.
Damn my scientific brain
