I would just be very non commital, and change the discussion subject..............
If you're talking to someone who you do not want to know (let's face it most have someone in that category) then 'a charity' would do (be ready with a suitably boring generic charity but can't remember the name type follow up). It's actually not that big a fib in any case 'cos this place provides free counselling for the debauched and weary!
If you're not sure about the person you're talking to and they look 'really interested' you could try 'SSSSHHH! can't tell you - it's a secret' and see if the penny drops.
Sounds to me that there will have to be some secret handshake (or my favorite, rubbing of the groin with said hand three times) to go with the pin.
Or a secret line, say " what this little pin, got in when i was at Runaway Bay" and the response to that is "Runaway bay,Hedonism III, love it".
Then its time for a coffee and a little talk, the rest you can all use your vivid imagination to make up
What about an expectant "Do you know what it is?" to the questioner.
Seems to be split down the middle, with some people proud to wear them and willing to tell all and others being a tad more discreet due to privacy. Which is kind of how i thought it would be... depends on the person, place, timing etc...
As for myself... if someone asked me, who had no idea who I was and i wasn't likely to meet them again,or for them to meet anyone i know, then they're going to get the full lurid details... including bacon sandwiches!! (ask Dave_Notts....)
If it's someone I know, or who i think is a bit suspect, then i'm going to bluff it... and tell them it's an internet thing to do with kittens or online gaming or star trek , or some other inane thing... hopefully they'll be so bored they wont question it further.
DS9 forever!
Watched all of it, watching Series 1 of Next Gen now, maybe I'll get to Enterprise after watching Voyager. I got bored of it on first broadcast
I like the olympic bid idea, think we could get any politicians wearing them on the news
