Mensa will give you a free test and they will tell you that you are in the top two percent of the population and thus qualify for membership. They won't tell you your exact score. If you want your exact score you have to take the membership test, which is a very long way from free.
There are a number of self-test books, H J Eynsenck did a series comprising several different types of IQ tests, and The Times has a book of IQ tests called, rather unimaginatively I thought, The Times Book Of IQ Tests.
Self-test books obviously contain the answers so you have to grit your teeth and not peek ;)

Well what do I know but I suspect the sample population may be slightly skewed towards the higher IQ's rolleyes

Those with higher IQ's are more likely to poll than those with lower IQ's
Personally I think everyone has some talent or skill that makes them unique, some are extremely skilled at hiding theirs ...but its therer in all of us and its for all of us to find the best in others.

I suspect that may be the understatement of the year. ;)
Good point though, people with lower IQs may be less inclined to take part in such a poll, and I also think people who don't think they have a high IQ could be disinclined to take an IQ test in the first place, so maybe ALL IQ statistics are wrong.
Not just IQ, but statistics in general - those students with clipboards who stop you in the street and try to ask you silly questions - what are they actually discovering when they do opinion polls? Are they finding out popular opinion on some topic or other? No, they're not, they're getting the opinions of the kind of people who don't mind being stopped in street and asked silly questions, and if the question was "How do you feel about students with clipboards asking you stupid questions?" the unanimous response would be "I don't mind" because the people who DO mind aren't going to answer the question. :D

there are different ways to measure IQ and the type of test used is needed to judge the score...
for example a score at mensa of 148 is the top 2% of the populas.
a score of 155 represents the top 1%, I scored 128 in this test.
when taking the mensa test (officially) you are offered another test which is designed to test logic,speed and intelligence, without all the english and grammar ans so on..
in this test 130 is the top 2% and 135 is the top 1%..
in this test I scored 133 (official) and therfore I am a member of Mensa and I scored above 2% of the popualation. lol

ps. to be a member of mensa you have to score, in either test, at least 130 or 148 (both = 2% of the populas) :P by the way, the official test is about 70% harder than any free ones... rolleyes

and memory dosen't get you through it wink

In a free test I scored 157 so I know the difference :shock:

Yup - it's an official statistic that the hidden average IQ of the nation is 201. The myth that it is 100 is just put about to get all us'below average suckers to join in. Now if someone tells me that there is no logic to this I'll.............
