Oh god! I know what you mean! My addiction wasn't with new ties though. Thankfully I don't have to wear them at work any more, but when I did I couldn't walk past a charity shop without buying at least five of the worst bad-taste 70's kipper ties I could get my hands on! I belive I'm personally responsable for making at least five people go blind redface

I love painting landscapes as you can see from my avatar. I find it so relaxing and absorbing and can just get lost in the creative process and forget about everything else. Every picture is an adventure that one never knows quite how it's going to turn out.
Music has also been the other great passion of my life and I don't know where I'd be without it. I tend to listen to heavy rock and metal and I love the power and energy it exudes! But I do listen to classical as well and if I'm painting at home then I often have Clasic FM on in the background!

My all time passion is genealogy. Love nothing more than finding out the names and social conditions of people long dead, who have lead to my being here.
I also love to embroider and read absolutely loads - mostly historical factual stuff. Book I'm reading now is The Secret Voyage of Sir Francis Drake. Very interesting stuff!
Jon's hobbies are sea fishing - he hates course fishing - thinks the fish have been caught so often they've become tame and know when to bite the hooks lol

He's also just bought two new fish tanks for tropical fish. Used to have some many years ago and decided to get some more.
He also holds a class A licence for Amateur Radio and likes to do that, although he's on SH more these days than he is on the radio :lol:
He also like to make his own pc's and twiddles around with them a lot ( the pc's that is wink

)

Music has always been a major passion of mine, mostly as a hobbyist. I'd studied electronic music at university in the early-'80s, then set up a home studio and spent the next 15 years dabbling in experimental music with a friend who shared my passion for pulling bizarre sounds out of electronic boxes. I've not recorded since about '96, but would love to get back into it some day. Fortunately, I still get to keep in touch with my musical side through my work: designing bioacoustic analysis software and music therapy machines for a couple of companies over in the 'States.
