When or do you ''out'' yourself?

Sat at work today and the conversation got around to body piercings.
I'm merrily munching away on a bunch of grapes, as the conversation around me gets more and more shocked and scandalised.
"And I mean nipple piercing!?! Can you imagine it?" (Cue shocked and horrified gasps, assorted tutting and a smidgeon of smug sighing.)
I'm there thinking to myself, 'hmmm, is this where I say "I used to have both mine done, no big deal" or do I just keep schtumm....'
I opted for a dignified silence whilst inwardly chuckling.
Have you ever outed yourself about your ever-so-slightly deviant sexual habits, likes/dislikes etc and regretted it? Have you ever slipped up and used swinging terminology in a conversation?

I used the term "vanilla" last week in a conversation with my 16 year old. Luckily she wasn't listening. rolleyes

When I told our dear friends & neighbours a few months ago it was a relief if anything. I take the precaution of getting to know people first- and I don't regret telling anyone I've told.
I am frequently having to reign myself in rather than putting my foot in it though. redface

Ours told my parents that Mummy and Daddy like to "bounce on the bed in the morning."

I told my mum and sisters I'd had my nipple pierced, and mum said "Oh my God, I hope you haven't got any more anywhere else!". I haven't told her about the 2 lower down rolleyes

oh yes i often laugh inside listening to the 'shock horrors' of what some people get up to or do.
I usually end up saying something so outrageous I think not a single person actaully believes me anyway!
ive told work colleagues all sorts of naughty things, and they just look at me as if to say 'yeah course you do'

my best mates know, a lot of my work colleagues know, my sister knows, my mam keeps commenting on the orgies i go off to and has met loads of my mates off the sites.
i have done the old having a conversation and saying, oh i keep forgetting your a vanilla n wont understand lol
mam knew about the piercings, n even came with me n got her nose done in blackpool, no shock with the tattoos either,
i guess most of my family, mates and work colleagues are pretty cool and dont seem particularly shocked

anyway.. they had an article in a newspaper about them, and all the girls in my office were talking about it.....
it took me all of my energy to stop myself from saying "oooh i know "them" "....

Quite a few of my friends know what we get up to, my mum thought i was internet dating for a while wink

My mum was with me when i had both of my tattoos, one on my lower back and one on my pubis, she thought it was funny really, she`s pretty cool about most things

I've managed to keep it from my friends and family until one evening when entertaining a lady and gent, my son decided to come home unexpectedly. Thankfully we were still fully clothed and just chatting. Now son knows I'm bi and is completely cool about it

I quite often listen to the people in my work having conversations about piercings, swinging, bdsm etc etc and think to myself if only they knew. I just smile or laugh inwardly and carry on with my work. They think I am very quite at work and would be shocked to find out that I have a nipple piercing, on the swinging scene, into bdsm and Ds and have a sub lol

It's nothing really to do with swinging but only the closest friends know Im bi and a swinger. None of my family know.
A place where I used to work, the conversation was about the gay area of Newcastle. One lass wasn't mocking it, but is one of them ones where she thrives on gossip and will tell anyone the goss-on-the-block.
I can't remember exactly what the conversation discussed was, but I was wondering "Do I say I have been and love the place? Or shall I not bother?". I decided not to bother for her to quiz me the ins and outs why I love the place (even tho straight people go but she's very narrow minded)
