I want to put in a plug for good meat. Not the dreadful bright pink stuff you see vacuum-packed in supermarkets. Proper, fresh meat that has been properly hung (yes, alright - stop sniggering!). Support your local butcher! He will be able to cut you what you want and as much of it as you want - and give you advice too. If he is really good he can probably tell you which farm his meat came from..........but I am getting on my soapbox.!

Here here.
I was lucky enough to have found a butchers just in Wolverhampton who was the frendliest you could hope for. Went in one day looking for a Duck, which he could only buy by the brace so he said he would cook the other one himself so it didn't go to waste. Plus they always recognised you after your first visit. Now I have a butchers in Stockton Heath plus a Game dealer only a few doors up both of whom are very knowledgable.
It just takes a bit of looking and word of mouth and we can keep these guys in buisness and the quality of food we can get high.

Better change our names to Floyd (Keith not Pink) !!!
Well reminded Will.
How could I have forgotten the Two Fat Ladies redface
Have to agree with you regarding butchers and 'proper' meat, another point is, they are nearly always cheaper than the supermarkets as well.
We have several friends who provide us with game etc. so that is free/very cheap most of the time.
To be fair. there is a Sainsbury by my parents that has a complete butcher counter in there, so you can request your cut of meat, and they will make sausages etc. to order for you, which isn't too bad. Still prefer my butcher though.
I love food!!!
He's already been mentioned before, but I love Worrall Thompson's style of cookery... I think it was the full English breakfast served in a hollowed out and toasted brioche that did it for me.... mmmm! I'm hungry now... but all this talk of meat has me craving some pork and leek sausages or some pork and apple burgers from my (formerly, now 150 miles away) local butcher... I'll have to make do with a cheese buttie instead!

I'm sorry, but I simply could not bring myself to eat anything that had been handled by that odious little hobbit. I'd be too afraid of finding lice that had fallen out of that scruffy excuse for a beard.

Try "CPS" in Culcheth they do a great range of sausages and Burgers (Pork&Leek, Pork & Apple, Pork & Black Pudding) and many more. OK it isn't on your doorstep but its a bit closer that 150 miles.
Handy fo that Sunday drive if you've recovered from the night before!
