notice from this thread that quite a few of you would retire. read an article recently that had worked out in order to never have to work again (i'm assuming they refer to people not close to retirement age,) it would actually require five million minimum. sign of the times or what.
Spamy get or what?
I started this thread on Friday got home that evening and there was a letter from ERNIE biggrin . Lovely lovely ERNIE :D :D .
Yes that's right I'm £50 better off :bounce: :bounce:
I'd open up my own drop in centre for people suffering from Dementia/Alzhiemers. I've just done some work with them and to be honest it's blown me away.. I want to help more.

I'm pretty loaded any way so i'd have to donate to a cause that's worthy......and this is one
............and it's true money doesn't buy happiness but as Spike Milligan said "it does buy your own preferred misery".

would they remember how to get there though? :giggle:
I have to admit, I've worked with lots of dementia patients and I loved it. One old lady in particular couldn't remember what she had for dinner half hour ago but she could relate her whole life story from 70 years previously. She grew up down the road from my Nan and would tell me all about her and the family.
I loved her to bits and was so sad when she died recently

I'd have the idyllic self-sufficient farmhouse a la Darling Buds and turn it into a superhome for troubled young people, I'd ban all social workers, tick-boxes & gawpers, spend my days home-baking real family meals & my nights counselling by open fire...
In my head its much much more than just that, but fook does it make me sound fluffy redface rotflmao

Ooh, I've visited the farmhouse that was filmed at-it's not far from me. When you get there, I think I have your first client for you. Social workers & tick boxes are making me :taz: right now.
What a sweet fluffy bunny you are deep down!

and you are spot on with the money doesn't buy you happiness, but it can buy it for others. smile
Go into semi-retirement.
Start to spend more time with people I like.

Ahem..... no I wasn't being cheeky, but as in bank balance.I used to donate to those people who collar you in the town centres, who collect direct debits for whatever cause, but i've stopped doing that now and prefer to choose more honest methods (like people rattling a tin).My company recently help raise over £4,000 pound to a local charity last year with it personally costing me about £2,000.I know you shouldn't give to charity without boasting about it but .......maybe I will go to heaven.
cool

First I would invest some of the money, a large sum of it, into stocks quite possibly, let it develop for a year or two, pull the money out and invest in companies that seems secure.
Once that I would have earned enough money doing so, investing, I would look into hire someone to help me invest my money better. Quite possibly start up my own firm at some point as well, to be honest, what is better than working for yourself?
My dads, moms and sisters debth would be paid out as well, so they would not have to worry about money. It can really cause trouble in your life such a silly thing as money.
Money would as well be spent on charity for animals maybe kids.
Hmm... Not sure, but would perhaps buy a car as well if I felt it was needed, but would depend on where in the world I was located, seeing that I like to travel and therefore end up in all different parts of the world. This is my last month in Wales, then im moving to Spain for a couple of years. Im originally from Denmark.
Remember 1 million is a lot of money, and if spent wisely could last a whole lifetime.
