Another book is "Friends come in Boxes" by Michael Coney.
Adults brains are transplanted into childrens bodies, so when people stop having children as a consequence, they have to store the brains in little boxes.
The brains in boxes start getting bored so they start the "friends" programme, whereby people already transplanted take the boxes out with them on little trips lol
Haven`t read it for ages ....must take another look

Sounds an interesting book - might look it up!
Gee, imagine all the shite you'd have to put up with rolleyes

Not me !!
I lead a charmed life ...everybody loves me !! lol
Apparently so!
(Mikes response) Its a difficult subject, as living forever as an old person does not seem an attractive option, and as many say on here, that they would not like their life prolonged if they were old and ill.
Well my father in law died recently and he wanted to die, yet my mum at 84 who has a bad heart and umteen other health problems, does not want to die, even though she has been widowed for the past 6 years.
I guess most when it comes to it, wont want to die tomorrow. Yet one day it will be tomorrow, and my guess is most of us wont want to die then either.
Mike
I suppose it comes down to the need to qualify what pro-longed life entails.
Quality of life should, and does, affect people's desire for long life. Whereas lack of quality of life can and does have the opposite effect.
From a biological standpoint though, this planet couldn't support us for very long if we increased our lifespans to any appreciable degree. As it is more people are living now than have ever died in the past. A fact which is truly frightening if you really think about it.
Edit: See for a read on the subject. Currently the population is approx 6 billion, by 2042 it is estimated to be around 9 billion. A 30% growth in 30+ years is frightening.
I don't mind it so much, but i do miss some old friends.
