Roger Moore, mainly because he didn't take it remotely seriously and basically took the piss, which is just as well as the man couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. biggrin
Sean Connery was the most believable. The rest were rubbish.

Oh yes Roger Moore's tongue was firmly in his cheek when he played Bond!

I think Connery was the benchmark but Dalton was terrific, pity he only did one.

Dalton did two, if I recall. The Living Daylights and License To Kill.
Sean Connery will always be regarded as the best Bond ever and he's the one that everyone has to live up to.
Personally I think Pierce Brosnan has played the part well in the last few films. Be interesting to see who will be the next one....or should we throw that open as a new thread ?
Sean Connery. Does anyone remember David Niven playing Bond in an early Bond spoof, Casino Royale?
Has to be Sean Connery - no doubt about it. He was attractive, lethal, with a dry sense of humour and very little by the way of morals.
As for the others:
Roger Moore. A sad, tedious joke that went on for far too long and turned Bond into a comic cartoon nonsense.
Dalton. Very smooth, liked him a lot and it was a real shame he didn't have the opportunity of taking the part further.
Lazenby. OHMSS was one of the best Bond films ever, but the man just blew it.
Brosnan. Ok, but not really up to the part IMO.
Niven. Well, David Niven was David Niven, and he can be forgiven anything, even the dross of Casino Royale.
But enough with the guys - what about the Bond girls? Diana Rigg has to be up there towards Number 1 spot, but Honor Blackman was pretty neat as well. Jane Seymour was very nifty too!
Oh, decisions decisions!
Best Bond for me is Pierce Brosnan.............. who has eclipsed Sean Connery (but both are brilliant). biggrin
I can't take Roger Moore seriously - he always looked to smug & to be honest, not capable of the action scenes. sad

Straight away, I'd say Ursula for her bikini moment but I though Jane Seymour was a fine tarot reader. If only she could have done the lottery shows instead of Mystic Meg...lol!

What was the other guy, George Lazenby, poor man was useless.

Dalton did 'two' films, actually!
Can't agree George Lazenby was useless...yes he was an untrained actor, but he was particularly good in the action sequences and he got the job based on his physicality. I think he has been much maligned in the press and peoples perception of him has been affected by this. Remember, Connery 'was' Bond in the minds of the audience in the late 60s and a difficult act to follow. OHMSS has been re-assesed as one of the best Bond films by fans and critics alike. If Connery had done it it would have been 'the' best Bond film.

It seems that Sean Connery will always be the definative Bond.
Dalton did it best for me (as a Bond that is!)
As for who's next - rumour has it that it will go to Dougray Scott

What do people think about that?
Mike
There can be only one ....... Sean Connery

Dougray Scott wasn't he the Bad guy in Mission Impossible 2?

Well for me 'Connery' is Bond as well. And I think Dalton did a good job too as he was more sensitive and physical. This is also true of Lazemby. If you read the books Bond has both of these qualities. He can be brutal (when required) but he is also a vulnerable lonely character who finds it difficult to settle down to an 'ordinary' life.
Bond is, of course, an alter ego of his creator Ian Fleming, who himself had difficulty in forming long term relationships. Fleming had lots of 'affairs' and was indeed a 'hedonist', as is Bond! The first swinging activities began amongst the upper classes and the aristocracy, something Fleming belonged too. How appropiate that 'Bond' films should appear in the 'swinging 60's, when sexual attitudes began to change.

I like brosnan best but mainly cos hes a less good looking version of me lol
Incidentally does everyone else find it impossible to get dressed for a black tie do and not look in the mirror and say the immortal words the names bond ...james bond

thats gotta be some sort of promotion lol
Yea but don't tell the other two or they will want one too!
Theres only one James Bond and thats of course Sean Connery
It seems that every Bond will be compared with the first Sean Connery, but they were books first and Timolthy Dalton was the one to play it the closet to the character in the Brosnan is a bit of an all rounder he has a bit of every other Bond in him. No pun intended!
I wouldn't kick Sean out of bed biggrin ....nor Roger.............or Timothy..........even better all at the same time redface corr rolleyes
