Why do you think so many new members are too shy to say hello in the cafe?
How do you know that there are new members that aren't saying hello in the cafe if they don't come in and say hello? lol
wink
Not all use the forum, or just like to read it or are nervous. Took me 3 months to post here.
Um got me there redface
Well, as I prowl the Women seeking Men ads, I have written and suggested that I think it is good idea for them to do it but none seem to.
When I write this done I think I sound a bit too sinister, perhaps that's why? redface

Some people just prefer to use the chat rooms, others the adverts and some of us the forum.
biggrin
Yeah took me a while to post in the forums and I still havent much, am in chat loads. Not sure why it took me so long cos usually i love putting my opinion across hehe

I was not shy. I shouted HELLOOOOOOO to you from my caravan going at 51mph overtaking you in the slow lane.
Phredd
It's not only new members who will not post in the various places available to them upon reading the contents of certain topics. It only needs one or two "sarcastic" comments directed at a particular posting or poster from other users which lets be honest is hardly infrequent on here? Little wonder they'll not want to put their fingers to a keyboard if that's the sort of reply that could be forthcoming to them. Some of us are gentle souls you know? - lol
Happy August.

So true, and exactly what I was going to say, but far more diplomatic than my input would have been!
To the best of my knowledge - I have never posted a 'hello I'm new' thingy.

That would be a bit "cheesy" and the fact that it's someones first posting should make other people aware that they are new and feeling somewhat trepidated. rolleyes

Why do you think so many new members are too shy to say hello in the cafe?

Cos certain people put them off with their putdowns etc IMO
This happens more to single males than anybody else rolleyes

I personally find this untrue. When I first joined the forum I made errors, asked questions that had been asked 1000 times before and had the right royal p*ss taken out of me on many an occasion. (I still do at times lol).
If when somebody said to me "It happens, get over it" I had taken it to heart I wouldn't be here now. I would have left and missed out all the fun!

Actually I don't think it is 'cheesy' in the slightest - lots of people do it and get plenty of 'welcomes' in return. Just because it was not my way of making an entrance, I would not degrade it as a method for dipping ones toes if it suites other people.

You have missed the point by only picking up on the "cheesy" quote. smile

You're right - I must have missed the point confused - I thought that was your point that it is 'cheesy' for people to say 'hello I am new' as we should be able to work that out for ourselves dunno
OK...feeling really stupid now because my first post WAS that I was new and was to ask some questions. **going to stand in the corner now ** lol
