Why oh why
people tell lies in the first place too either get them out of trouble
or there hideing something people have a habbit of forgetting what they said so in time they allways get found out
a small white lie is really nothin and we all use them depending on the situation
its when a small white lie gets too big too handle that it gets silly
personally if you tell the truth in the first place you can never be proved wrong

I think people lie for many reasons, the most common perhaps is to be economical with the truth in the hope that when you DO meet someone, they would be too polite (or too shy) to point out the obvious discrepancies and shag you anyway cos you bothered to turn up.
I don't see that working out too well too many times however.
I tend to go the other way, I am brutally honest and tell everyone how fat, ugly, crap and useless I am so that if and when we ever get a meet, they may be pleasantly surprised and if they aren't, at least it isn't a shock to the system. :-)
