I'm another one who finds flirting a real problem... dunno how to do it or what signals people are giving off, unless they are totally obvious 
I've always found chat rooms, email and the net to be a place where you can get past all the shyness that may come over you when out in the real world but then you can't hide behind the keyboard all the time.
I guess you just have pluck up the ol' courage and jump in, sink or swim so to speak. I do agree with well busty babe in that when you meet the right person it'll come naturally.

I firmly believe that you treat folk as you'd like to be treated yourself, so the garage guy should have asked how much you knew, as a general question, before assuming you didn't know how to open the bonnet.

Have you tried it when the trucks engine is running? The power supply may not be as stable or the truck might notice the large drain and cut it off to save the batteries on the truck?
I've bought the ACanywhere 300watt version for my laptop as I'm also a trucker but yet to try it. I'll give mine a go and see what happens.
Hope it fixes itself soon! Failing that, have a word with one of the fitters in the yard they may know more on how the truck is wired.
