That's strange hun, cos I've got two web cams and both work in the chatrooms. However I have found that you may need to plug in your webcam before you launch your browser, and certainly before your enter the chatroom.

I've found exactly that, too - I have to plug in the cam before I launch a browser.

You can also use this to chat in MSN, although not with the official client, you'll need to download either Mercury Messenger or aMSN.
I use a Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks with my Powerbook and it all works fine...

New desktop Macs have a right button now - on the latest laptops you can right-click either with the ctrl click thingy or by clicking with a finger on the trackpad.
Or you can buy a two-button mouse! biggrin

It's a version of MSN for Macs that supports cam! I've been using it for a while, it's a little buggy, but it works and is free... Should get more reliable in time, too. Better than waiting for MS to sort it out, anyway ;)
