It's the old argument isn't it, trains v road.
Even if you had nice corner shops, you've still got to get the goods to them. A train can't do it.
As for public transport in London, trains and buses are just dirty cattle tucks aren't they.
This thread started off as me trying to save people anguish and money, but I've ended up
defending my existence as a truck driver.

I wish all people thought like you and left their cars at home, but unfortunately they don't
do they.
If you don't like the sight of our ghastly lorries delivering the goods you buy, then I suggest you strike up a conversation with Tesco to work out what time is convenient for us to deliver the stuff you all want 24/ 7.

Hello everybody
Just a word of warning to those of you who live outside London and at some time may consider coming down this way for a meet.
Either leave the car at home or park and ride in. I drive an HGV on nights and normally
our first run of the night involves going into cental London. The traffic wardens in Westminster are dyed-in-the-wool gold plated Bastards. If you stop to ask directions they slap a ticket on your motor. Even us delivering to the numerous stores we have in the area are not immune, the record so far is three tickets in one unloading session, which took about an hour. If your car is uplifted and impounded, it's 200 quid plus to get it back.
Harry & Wendy please note : if God created the North, Ken Livingstone has sure as shit created the South, ( well, London anyway ).

I am new to this site, but during this week I've been on it at every available opportunity.
What I have noticed is there's not many couples from our area, i.e. Havering. If you're a
couple from Havering and fancy a chat with a couple from the same area, then how about e mailing us or PM.
No single blokes please, not yet anyway.
If I don't reply straight away, don't see it as a snub, I have to go to work at 4 30pm
and I'm normally gone for about 11 to 12 hours.
We both look forward to hearing from you.

The name came from a job I had in the 70s'. Too many blokes with the same name as me,
so they decided I was going to be Benji, and it stuck.
By the my wife's up for this too, with the right couple, and a few Jack Daniels inside her !!

Up against the sea wall at Canvey ( not caught )
My wife gave me a hand job on the Riverside walk at Rainham ( last year ).
I undid the popstuds on her all-in-one while waiting for a cab ( God she was wet ).
D'you want any more, I don't want to bore you !!

like most other people, I'm just a bit worried about rejection.

I'm a newbie, well, sort of.I did some swinging back in the eighties and nom I'm getting the
itch again !
Trouble is I'm now 20 years older, lost some of my hair, a few more wrinkles, ( not there you dirty minded lot ), and I was wondering if it would be worth trying to get back into the scene again.
I'm still fit and reasonably slim with just as much stamina as I had then.
So what do you think should I or shouldn't I ?
If there's any interest in this topic, I'll gladly give more details of myself.
For now though, I'm male, 50 y.o. Living in Essex/ East London border.
