Sorry - we don't log on here often but can confirm we are coming along on Friday. Thanks for info and see you all then biggrin
My first ever Saturday job was in Woolworths at the Elephant and Castle. I think I was about 14 years old (it was a very long time ago now) and it was in those days when you didn't have to be 16 and have a national insurance number etc in order to do a Saturday job - and it was the only way we could buy our own treats (Bunty, Jackie etc)
I remember being on the Pick and Mix counter in my lovely uniform - some sort of blue overall if I remember rightly rolleyes
:violin: aahhhhhhhhh those were the days

Bye for now

Hi all - to those who know me and of course those who don't (the lucky ones hahaha)
Where has the time gone confused:
I only popped out for a mo - but think it must be a few months ago now
Anyway I will try and pop in a bit more often and see whats going on.
Bye for now

I don't think much of any of the candidates but on the day I will probably vote for Boris - he can't be any worse than Ken.
One thing that really pisses me of is why those of us that live inside the congestion zone should have to pay to use our cars in our local area. Residents supposedly get a 90% discount on the charge, however the minimum period you can pay for is 1 week, therefore using my car on just 1 chargeable day costs me £4 - only a discount of 50%, cheers Ken.

Bassman - you know we often have discussions about how we often dont agree on things - and here is another one biggrin You know my views on the congestion charge and yes I know all about the 4 wheel drive stuff etc etc etc - but my view is that there are lots more important issues to tackle and discuss than the cost of the congestion charge. Sadly though money comes into the forefront of many issues - before peoples lives in fact but thats life I guess.(bit like people embezzling money get longer jail sentences than those who etc - but thats another story altogether)
I think I might run for Mayor of London next time

Hi
Can you confirm me and Bassman for Saturday please biggrin
Not sure what time we will get there as Bassman is in Bournemouth with his kids that day - so will be later rather than sooner when we get to you lot.
Can you send me the info when you send out to everyone else.
See you all soon lol

Oi you talking about my old face biggrin Stick me and Bassman down as provisionals as its his day to be in Bournemouth seeing his kids - so depends what time he gets back from there. Will confirm closer to the date if thats OK
Hi Try - can you put me and Bassman down as provisional's please? About time I crossed the bridge and came "up north" (is North for me anyway  )

Well
I did climb trees a lot as a child and wore knitted sort of tights (green ones) redface . One day I got tangled in this big tree - my tights got caught and I was left dangling and stuck and my dad had to get me out   . I was told "never do that again" - lol  Now I listened and to be honest I wish I hadnt as I stopped being quite as daring ..........

Corrie - didnt you wear these recently
bolt
I can't remember what I did wrong many many years ago (probably wasn't very daring though) but I was sent to bed early so I couldnt watch Top of the Pops
Anyway as TOTP was about to start my dad came in and said I could get up and watch it .................would I get up and watch it?? Would I hell mad
But all these years later I still remember being so stubborn and missing TOTP
ooohhhh I am finishing work on 29th Feb and dont have anything lined up after that so I may take a trip to Kestrels when you lot are going biggrin Mind you I dont know how I will get there as Bassman will be at work evil
Other favourites that I have just remembered:
An Officer and a Gentleman
Memento
The Machinist
The Generals Daughter
Billy Elliot
My Best Friends Wedding
The Wedding Singer
Girls Night - great film with Brenda Blethyn and Julie Walters but no-one I know has ever seen it!!!
Plus - what is that film with Danny De Vito where he is married to Bette Midler. She is kidnapped but he won't pay the ransom - its a great laugh that film.
I also like watching Gene Hackman, Denzel Washington and Danny Glover - amongst many others.
Am in a film watching mood now - so need to find one for later on today
lol
I love lots of the films already mentioned above BUT I LOVE lots of the old Black and White Bette Davis films i.e Old Maid, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane plus others where she plays a right old "bitch".
PLUS I think one of my fave B&W films has got to be An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr -It's very corny but I just love it and still cry my eyes out at the end every time lol (showing my age now but who cares haha)

So many that I could mention biggrin
I like anything by Philipa Gregory - particularly her Tudor novels.
CJ Sansom - Dissolution
Elizabeth Chadwick - The Greatest Knight, The Scarlet Lion or Daughters of the Grail
And I had Russell Brand's autobiography for Christmas which I thought was hilarious.
Let us know what you get and if it's worth a go lol

I just finished reading Phillipa's "The Other Boleyn Girl" - which I thought was great and apparantley its being made into a film
Prior to that I read The Kite Runnerby Khaled Hosseini and just loved it. The film has just come out too so I saw that last Sunday and it was very moving.
My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult was also a great read. It tells the story of a girl who was conceived as a genetic match to save her sisters life. The story gives her side of things as a teenager, plus other members of the family, the counsellor etc. I found myself reading one persons version and saying to myself " thats right, I agree with that" - then would read the next person's side of it and go "ummm Yes, I can see your side of this too"
It was very interesting and as far as I know, different to other Jodi Picoult books

Sarah - I am really sorry but can you take me and Bassman off the list as I can't make it now. Sorry - but hope to catch up again at some other time.
Have fun biggrin
Bernie xxxx
Hi all - sorry but for personal reasons I am not going to be able to either host or attend this social event now. Sorry about this - but it is unavoidable.
Obviously, if someone else on the list wants to host an event on the same date seeeing it has been set for sometime, then please do so via a seperate thread.
Apologies again - but hopefully stuff will be sorted soon and I will see you all sometime at a future social event somewhere.
Bernie xxx
Corrie - I would have considered coming to this ..........................but will be sunning it up in Lanzarote so will have to give it a miss.
Sorry lol
