Yep, that was my fault! Looks like my testing room was a bit too much for it. It is back up now.
Neil, looks like I may have got the setting slightly wrong, I think you probably needed to change -persistent-connections-per-server which is by default 6 I believe, probably explaining why you had problems at 7 or more tabs. In any case, it looks like the changes we've made to the site have fixed the issues. I would recommend restoring the -connections-per-server setting back to default by right clicking on it and selecting reset.

Max, in Firefox 3.5.8 I can usually get up to 12 - 15 open tabs before links stop working / can't close tabs / need to ctrl-alt-del out, though I've just managed to break it twice at only 7 open tabs each time. Chrome froze at 9 tabs. Safari 4.0.4 went to over 24 tabs with no problems.
Running XP Pro SP2 on this machine, and have max TCP connections tweaked to 50 concurrent for torrents. Home XP machine is probably default 10 connections, but don't think it breaks any earlier, with fewer tabs open? Makes no odds as far as I can see if I open one tab at a time and wait for it to load fully before clicking the next link, or just click a dozen links at random and have them all try to load in background. Using Firefox's Linky extension to open every single link on the Cafe Forum page simultaneously definitely breaks it, but that was probably a stupid bloody thing to do anyways, and I'll not try that again! rolleyes  lol
Neil x x x ;)

The maximum number of connections is also set by your browser. It would be helpful if you could increase this number just to test if this is the root cause of the problem. For Firefox, type about:config in the address bar and search for the option -connections-per-server to increase it.
