Righto - first to Judy:
No offence taken, but to clarify a bit - I don't provide a very complete profile because I consider my website, occupation, interests and so on to be personal info. Anyone who wants to can PM me or email anyway, and I'll tell them a bit more about myself. I'm on other messageboards and have even less information, and it's never a problem. Some people bare all to the world, some are more reserved - I'm the latter.
As for my ad - well, basically it isn't very good! No point linking to it yet ;) I got a reply when I stuck it up, but it was from a bloke.... hmmm.
On the credibility thing - I don't think my credibility should have any bearing on whether or not it's a good idea. Even madmen occasionally say meaningful things
All I expect is for people to take me as I am. Sometimes I'm a dumb plank and my ideas make no sense, other times they make sense. I chucked this one out to see if it sinks or swims as it seemed a good idea to me :)
Bluexxx:
Most of the fake ads tend to have disappeared by the time I get a response - the perils of being quick off the mark in replying. So usually there isn't anything to report, although I occasionally report the guys who don't understand that they aren't women seeking men!
Then there are some replies that seem odd, really vaguely worded and smell spammy, but I can't really be sure. I reply to a few of them, but don't get any response - they could have been real and simply not interested after my reply, or maybe I'm now on a mailing list.... I can't tell, and I'm not big on crying wolf on real women who are probably just besieged with email :/
Surreycouple have got it right - there are probably just a lot more fakes in women seeking men....
And maybe us guys need to be a little more vocal on the forum about pointing out ads that seem dodgy.
And hey to Mister D - that's probably what started me thinking along these lines now that you mention it! I found one of those sites a few weeks ago.
Sadly I think many women would respond badly to "I need you to take a photo of yourself with a loaf of bread on your head to prove you're real" ;)
