Adding my ha'pennyworth
<rant>
Most (large) charities sub-contract the signing-up new donaters now - and up to the first 2 years (YES TWO YEARS worth) of contributions go to these agencies.
Most large charities are now run as profitable businesses with a full complement of staff - in some cases a hefty chunk of your donation goes in, ahem, admin charges. And don't forget that just because they say it's run as a not for profit organisation - an awful lot of your cash can, and does, end up in salary costs ("Well sir, we have to pay the CEO £250Kpa, it's the going rate!").
I have in the past signed up to a couple of the £2 per month schemes as I considered that the cost of a pint per month to help was OK....BUT every single one waited a couple of months then asked to increase the donation. Needless to say I now only give to small charities when I know it's all going to the intended recipient.

PS: Just thinking about how sad it is that we no longer trust even charities to be fair
Not got an Ipod but...
I have a Creative Zen Touch with a small radio transmitter attached. That way I can move my Zen from house to car without faffing about with wires etc. I just preset the frequency on my radio(s) and tune in. A way to have your entire music collection with you in the car and at home.
I have to say it is great and the transmitter only cost about £8 inc shipping from HK.

PS: A good side-effect of the Ipod/MP3 player phenomenon is hitting the random button - it's like re-discovering your music all over again.
Mine:
Big green bin for non-recyclables
smaller brown bin for garden waste (no vegetable matter)
green container for waste paper (has to be good mind, non of that rubbishy paper like directories...or wrapping paper....or envelopes with windows etc etc)
grey container for cardboard (no corrugated stuff) and glass (washed and labels removed)
pink bin-bag for plastic and tins (washed and labels removed)
recyclable/non-recyclables are collected every other week in turn
I'm a big fan of recycling but even I'm getting a bit fed-up of the amount ofspace this all takes up. Not to mention the sheer number of containers I have to put out on a recycle day!

Not sure how to do it myself but a mate of mine emails them from his phone to a mail account and then downloads them from there. I can ask if you want further details.
Another thought, if it's a newer phone, does it have an SD/MMC memory card? If so, plug in USB adaptors are readily available for a couple of quid that will do the job as well.

Hi all
Another query from me
When I am using Firefox I can't ad photos to mails. I get the dropdown box and the image shows up when chosen but I can't then click on it to add to a mail. Is there anything that I can do to make it work or will I have to use IE when sending mails?
Again, thanks in advance for any help.
Dave
Thanks Surreynewbie and Steph - it's only to get a rough idea of where an advertiser is so both links work fine.
I've just tried the postcode lookup link in the advice thread and it told me I'm not allowed to access that page.
Is there something wrong with it or has it been discontinued? If it's OK, has anybody else had the same problem?
Dave
If you're inviting single guys - count me in too! Wouldn't mind assisting you getting it up and running either if you needed any help. I can't claim to have any experience but another pair of hands, especially on the night might be useful and I'm not too far away
Dave
Thanks Mr D
but...........I see you still have an animated avatar: how can you do that with a jpg? Or am I missing some point?
Hi all
Haven't been around for a bit (they made me work for a change!!) and have just come back to this new all-changed site. I've read through a lot of the "it's changed" threads to see what is and isn't working and I can say some things are good and some not so good but I have a question that I haven't been able to find: where's my avatar gone in my profile?
I am hopefully going to see it appear on the left when this gets posted but in the space for my avatar pic in my account there is only a blank space and no option to upload a pic. Have I missed something?
Ta in advance
Dave
Without a doubt AVG - the best free anti-virus around.
Hang on I'll just check the site address.............
To the left is a products link, click on that and then the AVG free edition. Follow the instructions and you're done.
Has always worked great for me and updates automatically every time I switch on in the morning (broadband) so no worries about being up-to-date.

Definitely CD-WOW - I've been buying from here for years and they are doing top 75 for at the mo with a 50p voucher sent with each one.
Have tried most of the others but CD-WOW is the most consistent, cheapest and quickest that I know of.
Hi
Is anybody else experiencing this? For the last week or so, access to my mail has been very slow to the point of excruciating. Is anybody else experiencing this? Most other sites appear OK.
