we could do with some form of instructions on how to use new room. I would quite like it if only I knew how to use it and it seems like lots of others asking same question "how do we use this room"?

Why can't I tell what your atavar is... yet I have a sneaking feeling that it's probably something that shouldn't be there. lol

Oh lordy, I think it was a one of them :giggle:
Rea333 no genital shot avatars please
Elliot has built a 'Help!' button that you can press when the chat room is opened. It is not on the current beta version but it will be added to the final new version.
The Help button provides instructions on how to use the feature and anything else that you might not understand.
Is the cam indicator definitely going to be on each members name in the list rather than in it's own window in the new chat.
If so, i think it's the wrong move - it's so easy to see who was camming in the current version. As users who cam and watch cams i think having the indicator on the name list wil make it a lot harder to enjoy the experience - don't think you'll get so many viewers, especially in a busy room.
Out of interest what was the reasoning behind moving it?
cheers

Bug in room list vertical scroll bar when the refresh keeps bringing it to the top such that you can not easily see or select rooms at the bottom.
Nobody seems to like the new version, why dont you abondon the idea and stick to the ols format? We for one will not be renewing our xtras package and talking to other members they feel the same. I feel you will lose a lot of members this way as there are other sites with better chat rooms
Teepee
is it working???
why do i just get a grey screen in the beta room ?
Is it just us or is the New Beta chatroom C@$p!!!!!
It feels like something off a teen dating website and will take months before people will work out how to work the conversation!!!!! mad
We'd have to start a petition.. it has to go!!!!!!!!!!
banghead
Have to say, I much prefer the old style chat.
One issue I have is the fact that in the New chat, you can't whisper AND follow the non-whispering conversation without flicking between pages.
Also - are the cam images smaller?
Also - emoticons seem to merge into the text on the line below.
At the moment, speed/functionality is the main issue, its getting better but not quite there yet, then we come to layout and what goes where, thats not finalised in any way and everyones comments are read, what we certainly don't want to do is replace the existing chat with something that either doesn't work as well or annoys a lot of people.
problems disembodied pics when clicking to see users pics, inability to reply to whispers and emoticons apearing in random places

Sounds like a work in progress then... i'm sure it will be great
biggrin
I'm not a regular chat room user, but I like the look of the new room.
A couple of observations:
Sometimes when I click the Pics icon, the first pic is displaced down and to the right in the sub-window. The "next" button position still works even though the button icon is obscured.
Sometimes I missed the Pics icon and hit the user name of another chat user and I opened a whisper session by mistake. I don't know whether doing this automagically opens the associated whisper session at the person I clicked on, but a double click to whisper would prevent this happening. I closed the whispers down as quickly as I could in case I created a tab at the other end. More traffic to handle?
Others have mentioned the smileys that float about.
still cant tell who is watching your cam
This morning after turning on my pc i tried to log in to the beta version and it tells me I appear to bealready logged in. I know Im not as the PC has ben off for the last 8 hours
Like Hornblower unable to use Beta chat as says already logged in.
Had to use IE7 to try and use it this morning.
Got in just the once yesterday with Firefox and after logging out any other attempts resulted in just a grey screen.
:smile2:
ive never had any problems with either the usual or beta chatroom, but today i get the grey screen saying im already logged into the beta, when ive not been in it since last time round.
hey guys, i am logged in there too...always!!
having read the comments on this thread...
i love the look and feel of the new chatroom..it is easy to use and has some nice features....
....but i really do prefer the old version for all its failings..
have fun either way
gary
as of this posting time says im already logged in to.
Been trying to enter beta chatroom on and off all keeps coming up,'You seem to be already logged in'.I did log out last time i used know whats happening please. confused:
Finally got the time to have a look at this.
My experience so far:
1. It seems slow to load and not much better to use (vanilla XP, up to date service packs, etc on Turion64/ 2Gb RAM - not slow hardware - It's a new OS install with nothing other than Office, Flash & pdf viewer), 2Mb Internet. Okay, I know there's the overhead of the initial load, but that's a one-off.
What's the recommended specs for this chat?
2. There's problems with the display - I'm currently looking at a room with icons for the rooms, but no names; icons for the members but no names against them. Tabs and other items to the left are also blank. So much missing there must be something serious wrong - so why didn't it throw an error? Certainly unusable as it is at the mo here.
What software does this expect to find that it can't auto-load?
3. Had several 'you appear to be logged in already' messages a couple of hours ago when I first tried this beta. Put this down to the chat directing me off to install flash and getting itself confused about my login state. If this was the cause, then it's a one-off issue & not quite so serious.
4. Clicking logout doesn't close the window; it should. This window was spawned to handle the chat; close the chat = close the window!
So. Other than being slow, buggy and confused about life, I think it's fine! lol
you can not get in if you use mcafee you need to disable privacy setting which leaves the pc vunrable
Was able to get into the beta room this morning using firefox. Yet now it's just not loading up and nothing has altered on my pc.
Tried IE7 and can get in via that though find not stable enough hence using firefox.
:smile2:
Hear hear rea & tony.
Do you need a plug in or something cos all I get is a grey blank box with "done" down in the bottom left corner. Getting very frustrated with it.
TQ
TQ
Found if try using the reload option many times can eventually get in ie took me 20 attempts before it loaded up.
Bit frustrating as once there find not the number of people there causing it failing to load
:smile2:
can a mod move this please as this was in a reply on the beta room thread. However the system wouldn't allow me to do that. Insisted on a new post. ty
is any body not happy with the beta chat room cam screen it seems very small compared to the normal chat room screen
