Is it just me......or is anyone else missing the more controversial threads, and the dogmatic view points of some??
If you are missing a "type" of thread, then why don't you start a thread of that ilk?
dunno

Because it is easier for the likes of Kentswingers777 to do it and take the flak?
Don't mind the controversial thread or two.
It's the plonkers who can't hold a civilised argument on them that I don't miss one bit.
Besides there's plenty o' fun to be had hereabouts.
Fancy a shag anyone??

Was thinking about that Nola, but Religion has been done to death on all forums!!!! wink
 lol
I don't like the tone of this thread. Its too agreeable and inoffensive. rolleyes
I don't miss the political threads at all if that is what you are defining as controversial.
I am enjoying the forum in a big way at the moment and have, for the first time in a long time, looked forward to logging in today. lol
thanks are owed to everyone that has started some good threads and contributed to them too.
You know who you are.

Nope, its not just you hun
Simple really......as soon as anyone posts a truly pointed opinion, particularly regarding sex or swinging (on this site! surely not), a moderator will pop up and lock or kill the thread in case someone gets offended.
Or of course if the opinion offered differs from theirs.
There was us thinking that the UK still had free speech...but not on this site!
You watch this get locked now when this remark sets of a heated little run.
Q.E.D.

That is, quite simply, the biggest load of nonsense I've read in quite some time. confused
Witchy, getting straight to the point for a change rolleyes

No, I dont miss them... and I am pleased to see that the forums are back to being used for "general discussion" rather than heated debate on specific political issues.
I dont mind heated debate, I dont mind a good verbal scrap and I dont mind confrontation/putting people in their place if i feel they are trying to take the piss out of me and others but i believe there is a time and a place.
Using these forums as an extension of the comments section of political/media websites, or so that some could get their daily fix of "Gaunt" type debating, is, IMO an abuse of these forums, and Im glad to see it has moved on from that.
Its not as if there aren't outlets to vent and rant in, is it?
Yes, I miss the sometimes controversial debates, look at whats currently on offer in the forums - just silly word games and candy floss "news" articles.
In a recent debate about some islamic fundamentalist tossers demonstrating against our troops marching home through Luton, the thread was suddenly cut short by management, and we were sent a warning saying that some of the links I'd mentioned in the debate might be "offensive" ! offensive to who ? the Taleban perhaps ?!
If the moderator is reading this, don't bother contacting me behind everyone else's back, lets have the discussion in the open here.
Swing sites are entirely dependant on freedom campaigners in the past pushing the envelope - for them to start censoring people is just pathetic and despicable - if you can't take democracy - get another job elsewhere - or maybe members of SH should just take their custom elsewhere if SH have'nt got the integrity to do this.
What are SH scared of ? if they get threats from muslim fundamentalists and their ilk they should just report them to the police.

In your opinion... I was only thinking last night that I'm enjoying the sex and swinging related threads at the mo.
I am neither a Muslim or a fundamentalist of any description. (Well, I suppose I could be described as pretty hard core vegetarian but then again not too hard core as I cook my son meat)..
anyhoo.. I digress. I dislike you calling anyone tosser. I am telling you that here and now just before I report you to admin. Have a lovely day.

Hehe... and then the police will get photographed with a piece of paper with SH members' names and addresses on it together with the details of the raid..... wink

That will be "general discussion and chit -chat then"? wouldnt it?
I must admit, I thought the Cafe threads were smoking right now and I laughed last night reading and posting more than I've done in ages.. it reminded me of the 'olden days' but better and with with new, lovely people contributing lol
And if people are going to make comments about Mods locking things I was they'd substantiate it with some evidence rather than just post shit.
nope

I think we are getting a little muddled here between controversial and just plain rudeness.
I will debate points sensibly with anyone, I will respect their opinion, if they provide me with the same courtesy. This includes controversial issues, or issues that draw strong opinion, such as politics, religion and the recent ones about Jade Goody, which I opted to keep my mouth shut on because I don't do sycophantic pandering.
However it is lovely not to have to read through a tirade of politically motivated, ill-informed, narrow-minded, scare-mongering, badly written, poorly researched, populist, agenda-driven tosh which is then defended only by slagging off the opinions of people who post counter to it, or ignoring those who pick holes in the original argument that is about as convincing as Paul Daniels wig. That to me, isn't controversial, it is just aggravating and shows a fundamental lack of understanding of the process of debate as well as a total lack of respect for the opinion of other posters. It is crass, pointless and simply upsets other folk for the sake of it.
I miss that about as much as I'd miss a dose of the ebola virus, or having to turn down a ticket to the Jeremy Kyle show.
I think some people just like to see some of the more established and, dare I say it, popular members of the forum get their noses put out of joint once in a while. (Cue thread on 'cliques' and 'not fitting in'). I don't come here for all that puerile, childish nonsense. I'd rather hoped it was a more adult environment. Sadly at times in the past, it resembled a school playground with the sullen bullies stirring the trouble and busy pointing the fingers at everyone else.
So I'm absolutely devastated we have starting talking about topics other than what is in the papers, or what a certain tabloid gob-on-legs has said. You never know, all this talk about sex and stuff may mean some of us actually get round to having some, instead of attempting to put the world to rights on a swinging website. Call me naive, but I don't imagine Gordon and Barack's first port of call when they are making policy decisions is the cafe pages of the forum. If you wanted to make your voice heard, there's plenty of respectable websites you can post to, to do that. But I always wondered if that was the motive and I am not so sure it was.
So long live the feckless, the pointless, the sexy, the funny, the informative, the entertaining, the unusual, the weird, the kinky, the daft, the strange and the odd along with the debates about controversial issues, but I would hope that these are actually debates, and not simply slanging matches with a thinly disguised ulterior motive.
Shall I book a room or shall we dine alfresco?
Sorry, I meant in-Tesco?
for A Pannini! Do I know how to show a woman a good time or what?! ;-)
Dine al fresco?
You mean you know a decent burger van?

And a cup of tea?
I wish I knew how to do the double quote thingy!
Essex - A burger van! Perish the thought! It would only be the best for any lady with me. Maccies of course! (No expense spared!) I'd even go "large" to impress them. (That's the meal, sadly Maccies can't help me do other things 'large' just yet)
FB - You want a cup of tea too? Looks like I'll have to break into a tenner then... There goes the entry to the Tiddly Winks championship next week...
I cut and paste it to Word or something and then fiddle with it and paste it back...
I love you too by the way, but not in the same way as FB. You should save all your posts here and publish them - they're fantastic Res
Now Now Bioke, I know what you are after... I can see that cheeky grin and I've read what you put on other threads...
Let me have a word with Fb and if she agrees, you can join us and... I'll buy you a cup of tea too, I may even share my flapjack with you... ;-)
Thanks for the kind comments though!
