Someone said that not all of the MP's have been doing this. But is that true? My own opinion of mps has never been high. Sadly my base assumption now is that anyone with mp after their name is a crook and any who seek that position are already reaching to get their hands in the till.
So if we were to get a general election, just who do we pick? How can we find out who is NOT a criminal - since the assumption must be that they are.

innocent
There are some decent MP's out there.....somewhere.
They have brought themselves into disrepute and they should be not only made to pay back every penny, but also to go on national tv and appologise to the electorate.
Have all the guilty ones put onto question time, and then let the audience loose on them. That would be a lesson for anyone who thinks about doing this again.

Coconuts.
So the Prime Minister has admitted he was "appalled" by the scandal but insisted he was unaware of what had been happening. confused
If he isn't aware of what is happening on his own doorstep (he is implicated himself in the scandal after all), how the hell can he know what is happening in the Country?
Time for him to go methinks.

Why should they be allowed to claim for second houses and furnishing expenses ???
Its their choice to become an MP so they should realise the implications of doing so...
Not expect others to foot the bill.....

Not nitpicking nor supporting what they have/are doing but its their choice to stand as an MP and the Electorate's choice for them to become an MP. Perhaps its that subtle difference that leads them to believe in their entitlement. dunno
Well they stand for election in the hope they will be elected so to me that makes it their decision(aside from the obvious election to determine which particular one will get the position.....They all hope it will be them)......So that makes it their career choice....
Aye GNV fair point that applies to all of the MPs. Its not really a party political issue is it. I know for a fact that members of my local minority parties have been gagged by their HQ on this issue presumably because its a touchy subject for them too.
In terms of the forthcoming euro elections, dont forget that because of it is a proportional representation system your vote is unlikely to be "wasted" if you choose a minority party.

Ah but...
As they are all wasters, does that mean your vote will be wasted dunno
I have a question... perhaps I'm not being very clever here but why are MPs able to claim mortgage payments for any property on expenses? Don't they get a salary like the rest of us?
dunno

That is just one part of why so many people are pissed off with MP'S behaviour.
With the expenses they put in for like food and pot plants, it makes you wonder what they actually spend their salaries on. Or do they keep their salaries tucked away somewhere, to use with their fat pensions.
Politicians are all alike in my opinion, and now more than ever the three main parties are almost impossible to tell apart. The fact that members of all three, some of them senior members, have been caught with their noses in the trough will make next months elections interesting to say the least.
The small lesser known parties, fringe groups, extremists, and independents will all benefit on June 4th. It will be nice to see the ruling class get a well deserved bloody nose! smile

Some politician was on the radio this morning bleating about how some people in the commons were close to suicide.
The weird thing was, she was saying it like we would give a shit rolleyes
I can see them all now....back of hand to fevered brow !! "Oh woe is me, I`ve been caught milking the system, I think I`ll go top meself cos everybodies being so horrid"
Yeah ...ok ...bye wave

I wish they would stop talking about it and get down to Beachy Head, already! biggrin
Blimey if you think out MP's are at it, take a look at this..

Funny an EX Labour leader, riding a very nice gravy train along with his Mrs.
No doubt they will also say thay have not broken any rules.
No wonder our contribution to Europe is so high, it is to pay for all these greedy gits.
Old Labour.....New Labour.....difference? Nil, zilch, nowt.
Some things never change.
Well then, that's all right.
£2m for a report (and a few more gawdy self serving w*nk*rs jumping on the gravy train) and they really treat joe public as if they are mindless morons by blanking out the names of MP's on expenses forms.
For a brief moment in time, it just looked as though gawdy might actually be re-establishing the moral high ground...
then he made a decision and once again, the electorate got to learn just how screwed up these idiots are. rolleyes
GNV..... I think everyone now knows that these people not only treated the taxpayer with utter contempt, but after the claims sheets were made official today, they were all blanked out.
Even after all the bollocks of recent weeks, they still just do not get it!!!!
Self serving pigs is such an apt title, for the thieves.
Transparency?...they would not know what that meant if it crept out of their fat lazy arses.
Sack em all and start again from scratch....let the Bottler be the first to go. He can really go and " save the world " then. wink
There were quite a few inexperienced MPs voted into office in 1997. School teachers, social workers, et al. They had to learn in the job. This may partly explain the situation we are in now. Have a look at the photos of the newly elected Labour members of parliament then take a look at them a year later. Interesting how the style gurus and the public relations image experts changed their appearance, hairstyles, clothing...a lot of the women looked like a typical bunch of female social workers...
