I actually intended this post to be a serious attempt to find out how many members were in my area. Never mind, at least everyone seems to have had a bit of 'essex' fun. I'm thinking of moving now, the 'up north' brigade seem to have much more fun than us southerners. Thanks for all the replies folks lol

Well, racer, did you know we have an adopt-a-southerner scheme here on SH, just for those like you who have realised that we have more fun here in the north, and wish to join us? See:

as I read through all the posts on here it seems that everyone lives 'somewhere else'
makes me feel real alone down here in essex. how about a 'hands up if you are in or near essex' it would be good to know I have some company especially from the ladies and couples.

I have a map with Essex on it, if that's any help biggrin biggrin biggrin
(but I'm actually on Tyneside.... so I'll just get my coat.....)

HungryP,
I am glad you feel positive about Chelmsford. I was born there nearly 38 years ago. I have spent the last 35 of those years living in and around Reading. My parents moved to Reading from Maldon, as my Father was able to secure a better paid job here. My parents like Essex and moving was not an easy decision for them.

That reminds me. Every time I've ever visited Bristol it has pissed down there.
Bristol, of course, isn't in Essex. It's about as interesting as Essex though, only with a lot less burberry.
Zootle,
I see your profile states that you are located in “Wheelie World”. I wonder what the Annual Average Rainfall is there?

Teppic,
My family and I used to holiday in Essex after we moved to Reading, as we still had relatives living there. I have many happy childhood memories of windswept summer days spent in Clacton, Frinton, Walton On The Naze, and Brightlingsea. The last time I went to Essex was ten years ago, as the relatives I knew there have all sadly passed away.
I will go back one day and I will reminisce.
Well, I used to live in Essex. At least, it was just about in Essex. Near enough Suffolk actually.
Now I live in Surrey. Which is only an hour or so's drive from Essex. Feel any better now?
South east London here so I gess I dont live to far from it.
Hey Racer
We live in Kent ( officially the shortest county name in the U.K. ) and we have a wonderful darford tunnel and a shiny new bridge to connect us. Used to go shopping at Lakeside but then we got our own bigger, better and much posher Bluewater shopping centre. lol lol lol
Now we only cross the water to laugh at the lovely Essex people. Only joking they are just as bad in Kent.
Maybe we could put some Essex girl jokes on to cheer you up lol
Love
Jackie and Ben

hi jackie and ben. heard all the jokes i think. Just checked out your pics and was halfway to the bridge when I remembered the age criteria. Any time you fancy trying a more mature guy drop me a line and ill be a kent lad in no time. (did actually live in strood as a kid, and I regularly race at brands and lyddon)
