My current (utterly wonderful) girlfriend seems a bit erm.. different to other girls I've 'known' - If you read any sex 'how to' advice, they always bang on constantly about how the clitoritis is the key to female orgasms, and anything else is not gonna do it.

I used to have a big hang up about my clit so I can empathise with your girlfriend and you may want to show her my post.
It all started in my late teens when I dated a couple of guys who thought that it was enough to handle a woman's pussy roughly for her to give in to their every desire. It wasn't. It was horrible.
