Hi all,
This is my first real attempt at starting a thread. I'm not much of an essayist nor very eloquant but here goes.
Having browsed this site for many a long evening I've noticed what appears to be a trend.
The folk "Up North" seem to be having more fun than those down there.
Hampshire is rather quiet swingingwise.
Are you more liberated up there, north of Watford, or is it just that there's more of you?
Please , please , please don't take offence any one south of Watford.
I was just wondering if there is anything in this theory. Where, do you think, is the swinging capital of England?

I'm sure I've seen it mentioned before that people think more goes on up North than elsewhere. I'm not sure if that is the case, maybe some scientific research is needed into this :lol2: I don't think I can really comment much on this, being a northerner myself, but personally I have noticed that the cities in the north tend to be closer together than down South, so I wonder if that has any imput in things.

Great to see you posting lynch. It can be a little daunting with first posts but hey look at it this way if you get slapped by some thats cool you probably made their day they'll of enjoyed it
As for a difference, yeah reckon your does seem to be more going on up there. But its coz theres less to do up north with the dole and less light thats why the pubs arte bigger too. :shock: and they get bit bored so they turn to each other for company

Not all the pubs are big, mine is quite small, cosy and with an open fire. Not sure how many SH couples get here, but it amazing how often we get couples in and also equally amazing how many other pubs here don't.
As to the scene here and down south, I've had far more action down south when I lived there but I was young and pretty then. Now I'm old tart I really don't get the offers any more. Perhaps it may be because of my sexuality, I really don't know.
However down south it takes a while to break into the scene and get known, then the offers do come in, once you're known as reliable, clean and honest. Up north I guess not so many people have met me so don't know.(hint)
Best of luck in finding some good and regular friends.

A simple welcome to the forum would have sufficed Lost he hasn't done anything to be "lynched" at has Lynch, pardon the pun! :lol: I think you are right actually Lynch, there's quite a few of us swingers up here in Newcastle area so yes maybe the more rural areas are quieter on that front or maybe... they haven't come out to play yet!

Firstly, welcome to the nut house
I used to think the same and went on about it ad infinitum, i was recently informed by someone who has been in the scene down here for years and years and years that the swing scene in this area really is alive and kicking, the problem is getting in, as most of the 'active' people do not use the net for their activities but rather rely on personal introductions and recommendations and are, on the whole, much more closeted than what we are used to on this site.
It seems there are large groups of swingers down here who get together on a regular basis at local venues, right under our noses :shock: i must get out more
how on earth you 'break in' to these circles however remains a mystery to me
maybe one should try some local user / news groups, someone must know :taz:Maybe we're just not so brazen down here :shock:

I think you're right Lynch it certainly seems that all the action is 'up north'. Whenever I've contacted someone or they've contacted me 75% of the time it will be Cheshire, Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and thise kind of places.
I have met people from 'the south', but it has taken a much longer time to establish. Maybe people from the south are slightly more reserved so you have to work at it more?
I've found a good way to establish potential meets is by making yourself available here and in the chatrooms but even there the vast majority of people who frequent these areas are from the places mentioned above.
There have been attempts to redress the balance but it has been slow.

I think it's a case here of the grass appearing to be greener on the other side. It often seems that all the 'action' is at the opposite end of the country to the person looking.

What I meant was that "Northerners" tend to be more honest about themselves and others, and seem to enjoy life more.
Us southerners tend to hold back a bit more, not because we want to, but it must be some kind of social conditioning or something. Maybe it's because we're more suspicious of people, or just more cautious, but because "Northerners" tend to be friendlier and more community minded it just makes things more straight forward.
