It must be scary but I would take the advice given and at the least contact your ISP to see if it's a possiblity and then possibly the police.

Hope all works out for you, Kiss_Me. I suspect this is just some evil person making things up to scare you, rather than someone who actually has any real information on you.

I have just spoken to ntl..... they say its almost impossible to get a personal address from an IP address.... anyone accessing information like this has to be logged and passed to gain such info much the same for police doing a check on your car they have to have reason such as a police officer with reason, its not a case of just checking a directory.. any company giving out such info or allowing it to be used without said cause is subject to huge fines... Contact your own ISP and ask them who and when has accessed your information.. tell them you are going to the police. They will soon act!!

For what its worth I think your being wound up, nasty as it is!! Don't go running off, you have done nothing wrong and nothing to be ashamed of... They are the offenders! Running off won't change where you live will it hun?

While it sometimes is possible to do a bit of looking up locations from IP adresses, they generally resolve to your ISP's address, not yours. If you want to see how precisely you can be located from an IP address, take a look here:

I feel foolish for being ‘scammed’ (I pray it is a scam) and getting so upset and scared, but nothing like this has ever happened to me before. Some may argue that I shouldn’t talk to strangers.
